Hi, I created an mpg movie and uploaded it to my website. While it's on my hard drive it plays fine but anyone that has windows media player and plays it through windows media player gets the following message:
The specified module could not be found.
I never had this problem before. I played mpg format in windows media player for a couple of years but suddenly I can not and also, no one else can eighther.
Can anyone help with this?
Thanks

Hi adorable, welcome to the forums..
I don't know why no one is able to view the video. There are several reasons why, including some settings on your host website.
However why not create a WMV file, and use that to upload to your website? VS is capable of producing WMV files. Just go to Share>Create Video>Custom. Then in the dialogue box that opens up, click on the drop down menu and choose Windows Media Video (WMV). Then select options, and setup a reasonable file (size vs quality vs internet connection/speed). For internet viewing it should be a smaller, compact file size, with a resolution of about 320 x 240 or so. This way people do not have to wait for hours to view the video.
By the way you didn't specify what MPEG format, MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4? What version of VS are you using?

adorable
Hi, thanks for the reply. Most people I know, say that it's more user friendly across the board. I created an mpg 1 file as I always have. This is a new problem and that's why I really would want to find out what the problem is. If anyone knows, please let me know. Also, if I get a hold of an original wmv file and convert it to mpg 1, it happens as well.
I hope someone can help.
Thanks so much

codecs
Hi, being that I am having so much trouble with creating MPG-1 moves to put online as mentioned on my other post, could it be I am having trouble with codecs? I tried creating a video on a friend's computer that has VS9 as well, and all worked out perfectly. The video played just fine from my web page but if I make the movie on my computer, it won't play for everyone especially those who for some reason use media player. When I created the video from my friend's computer, it worked out perfect. Is there something my computer is missing that won't let VS9 create these videos correctly? We get a message that the movie can't play on media player cause of a module that is not found.
I know I posted a similar post but creating the clip on another computer and working out fine, brings up this new question.
Thanks
