edit .dwz file

Post by Thund »

I've been using MovieFactory for a while to burn recorded television shows to DVD. I input chapter stops and everthing. I was wondering if it would be possible to modify the a .dwz project file by hand (say in Notepad) to use the video files that I want and to change the chapter time points. Has anybody tried this? Thanks.

I wondered if anybody would care about that. Currently, I have to input all of the chapter points and the video itself by hand. This takes a little bit of time. I thought I could streamline the process by having a program change the dwz file for me for the new videos and automatically input the chapter breaks. It would just be more convenient. Then I could double click the dwz file and go straight to burning.

Mostly, I just wondered if anybody had insight into the structure of the file so that I could automatically generate it.

MovieFactory includes an option to automatically create chapters at specific intervals eg every 3 minutes. Alternatively you can do it manually.

I still cannot see why you would want to do it that way.
Using MovieFactory you can automatically create chapters every 'x' number of minutes - or if you prefer you can do it manually

Ah, yes, but if I have another program that detects commercial breaks so that I can make the most logical chapter break for a television show then I have to enter and calculate the time of those breaks manually.

The DWZ project file is a private format of Ulead and cannot be accessed by other non-Ulead products.

Sorry to let you down.
