Way to make video project interactive via inserted link?

Post by susantexas1 »

Hi, UVS9 Friends,

I'm using my precious Video Studio 9 program to develop a promotional DVD for a friend's small business. We like the way another friend of ours paid a company to develop a similar DVD (the company used Macromedia and had screens with links to web sites so that someone watching it on their PC could click on a link in the project and open the web page. Does that make sense? Not sure if I'm saying it correctly).

I want the last screen / frame of my project I'm doing in Video Studio 9 to have an interactive / direct link to my friend's web site, plus maybe even a little form potential customers can fill out and submit. Any suggestions?

I know I can save the project as a Greeting Card in UVS9 which makes the project a .exe (correct?) - is this the way to go? Alternately, could I learn to develop my own Flash file with the web link in it then insert that into my video project? Suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks - I LOVE ULEAD PRODUCTS! :-)

Hi

If you are asking can I play my video on the web? Then yes.

But you can not make interactive links using video studio.

These links will have been done using Macromedia or similar web design tools.

Use Video Studio to make a file suitable for a web page:-

Create a 30 second project containing some of your video, titles etc.
From Share select Share Video on Line.
Select one of the Wmv try the ‘good quality’ for starters.
This will produce a Wmv video file that you can use on your web pages.

As an example:- http://www.stephen-wray.co.uk/englishdvd/en/video.html

Was created using Video Studio, the web page by Macromedia.

Hope this Helps

Just Want One Little, Innocent, Tiny, Active URL...........

Post by susantexas1 »

Hi, thanks for the info.

No, I'm not interested in posting anything to the web; I only want an active URL link at the end of my video production. Sure wish there was an easier way than trying to learn how to make my own Flash Files for just this one little thing. I did purchase Swishmax today, but confess I'm lost. :-(

Does anyone know if Swishmax comes with pre-set / pre-developed little movies or clips I could just change the text in and be done with it? Although, now that I think about it, once I insert the .SWF into my video project it gets rendered along with the rest of the presentation which again defeats my need for an interactive URL at the end (I want my clients to be able to click on a web address when watching the video presentation on their computer and be taken directly to the website).

I guess if I learn to use Swishmax I could import my entire video presentation into IT, then put the interactive URL link at the end of that file. (....she said, thinking and typing at the same time.....)

I wonder if there's a way to have a DVD with my UVS9 video project on it, like always, but then add a separate flash file at the end?

As you can probably surmise, I'm looking for a bit of a 'cheat' / easy way to accomplish this little feat.......tee hee ;-)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions :-)

Hi Susan,

I've been using Swishmax and Swish since version 2.0. However with Swishmax you can not import video files. However what you might be able to do, is use Swishvideo. I used up my trial version some time ago and never purchased it. You might be able to accomplish your goal using it with Swishmax.

Create your video using VS9. Render to an AVI, or whatever format. Then bring that into Swishvideo. Create a SWF from your video. Now using Swishmax, you would incorporate the video SWF with the SWF having the links. So when the video is done playing, either on a CD, or the web, the users would have the ability to click on a link to go to a website, of course provided they have an active internet connection.

Hope that helps..
