Hi,
I FINALLY got my Video Studio 7 project complete, with about 50 clips, music and transition effects between each clip. I rendered it using Video Studio 7 to a MPEG file, and then burned the file onto a DVD using Movie Factory.
The DVD freezes after EVERY transition effect takes place on my DVD player. If I fast-forward one frame, it continues on until the next transition effect.
I used a Plextor multi-format DVD burner, and burned a DVD-R DVD. It plays great in the computer from another drive, so I figure it is my player.... Other DVD's I've burned play fine in that player, but they have no transition effects.
SO, is there something I can do differently when authoring, or do I need a new player? Why would it only freeze at the transition effects? I took them out, and it seems to work fine, but I LIKED THEM!!!!
Thanks,
Sandi M

Hi,
Thanks for reading!
I used Movie Factory to burn the DVD, because I could! I'll try Video Studio next.
Yes, the MPEG file plays fine in the PC.
I am using various transition effects, such as Barn Door, etc. I used a different one between each clip.
I captured the video with CapWiz, and do that all of the time. The only difference is the use of the effects in the authored MPEG file. I have no idea what the settings are, but I will check and let you know.
Yes, I'll try to play the DVD in another player, and see what happens!
I figure it must be the player, but it makes no sense that the entire thing would play fine except for at those points in the movie.
Thanks,
Sandi

Yeah, I had that problem, too. It was an MPEG made from a DV camera that records the video to a memory card. I edited it with VS6, then burned it with Sonic MyDVD. (because the computer with VS didn't have a DVD drive) It only messed up on one transition for me, though. I mostly used the 3D flip transitions, and they were fine. The problem was with the puddle transition. I used it twice, once between two pictures and once from a picture to a video. On the latter, the video would freeze until you fast-forwarded through it. Every other transition was fine, though. I think it was only on our old DVD player, though.
If a friend of yours has a newer DVD player, try it on that. Also, try playing the DVD in your computer's DVD drive. If it works in both those cases, just buy a new DVD player and it should work.
