Burning problems both with time and finishing in MF4 + MF5

Post by mgm556 »

I don't know if this has happpened to anyone else, but this has been a problem for me for both the trial versions of MF4 and MF5. Any help would be greatly appreciated! When the movie starts to encode, it takes a LONG time to finish. Long as in, it takes about a day to get about 20% done...-_-' even after waiting that long, it ends up crashing in the burning process. However, when I use a different version of the same movie, it works perfectly. The only difference I could find between the two versions was the video sample size. the one that works has a 24bit video sample size, while the one that is giving trouble has a 16bit. Do you know if this is the reason things are acting up with the 16bit version? Sorry if this has already been answered somewhere...If you need anymore of the specs from the videos just tell me. Thanks very much for helping me out!

Right click on both files from within MF4 or MF5 and post the properties as they are absolutely vital in debugging this kind of problem. Also fill in your your system specifications on your profile page of the board as this is also vital information.
As it is all we know is that "some" files on "some" computer running "some" operating system with "some" capabilities and "some" configuration is causing a problem.

The problem is that you are trying to go to DVD using Divx files. The standard for DVD is MPEG2 files. MF is taking so long because it is trying to convert Divx to MPEG in order to make the files compliant with the DVD standard. Ultimately it is simply falling over trying to do it. There have been numerous posts regarding handling Divx files and all have reported pretty well what you have.
The bottom line is that you probably need another program to convert the Divx files to MPEG2 as MF is not designed to do that. Try searching the forum for "super" it is a program designed to do the conversion prior to attempting a DVD burn.
