I will be installing VS9 on my new PC. It's the upgrade (I have all the CDs) from VS8. Now, my VS8 CD is the upgrade from my original full version CD of VS6.
Question: do I have to start with VS6, then install the VS8 upgrade, once VS8 is installed, delete VS6 then do a repair of VS8 then install the VS9 upgrade, delete VS8 and do a repair with VS9?
Re-install of VS9 Shortcut?

Do not know specifically, but other programs I have installed that were upgrades first go to your hard drive and look for the previous version. If they do not find it, the GOOD programs then tell you they can not find it and ask you to insert the disk 1 of the previous version into the computer. After a second, it then is happy and ejects the previous version's disk and continues with the installation of the new version.
I would just put in the upgrade new version and install it, and hopefully it will do the above without having to install all those old versions.

You should not have to install the VS8 upgrade. Infact, you might not have to install the VS6 on your hard drive. It is worth a shot to start installing VS9 and when it looks for the previous version you should be able to swap disks and let it find the VS6 CD and then it will prompt you for the VS9 CD again and finish the install. If that doesn't work, you should be fine with installing VS6 and immediately going to VS9. The upgrade just wants a previous version and I think 9 still looks for 6.
That is how it should work, but let me know if I was right.
