Trouble re-installing Video Studio 9.0

Post by biff44 »

I had downloaded the free trial and did some extensive video capturing and DVD generating with the free trial. My free trial has expired.

I then ordered the full version of VideoStudio 9 from amazon.com.

I just tried to load video studio 9 from the CD, and I get this message:"installer has detected that a version of ulead video studio 9.0 is already installed in your system. Please uninstall it first and run setup again".

I DO NOT want to lose the captured video, or the final movie/dvd that I had created with the free trial version.

HOW do I reinstall the software so that it runs again WITHOUT wiping out all of my work done during the free trial?

Why not just move the video you captured to a new windows folder? You can also move the VS files that contain the editing instructions for the projects. Once you have the files moved, you can delete the trial version, install the full program and just drag and drop your old files back into VS9

That would work. How do I recognize the file types for the captured video, the movie I created, and the final DVD that I burned? And what folder names do they reside in? Thanks, a newbie.

That depends on what and how you captured. Generally speaking the captured video will have a .avi extension and the rendered (this is the video you converted ) will have an .mpeg extension. Again, this depends on what and how

Start the VS trial program and look at the thumbnails of the captured video and rendered files. Point to each file and right click with your mouse. This will give you the properties of each file including their location.

Biff, if you just save the video in the default locations look under My Documents for a folder called Ulead VideoStudio and under there you should find your videos.

Also, when you uninstall the program, it will not delete your videos, at least it has never done that to me. You will have to know where they are to relink them into the program once you install the full version anyway.

Hope that helps.

Thanks guys. It turned out to not be a problem. The reinstall of VS9 did not wipe out my folder with the .vs projects in it.

I DID have to install VS9 twice before it "took". A pox on bill gates!

Glad to see you got it going...
I think Bill owes you an apology..(which you'll never get) ok so maybe he would just settle for buying everyone on this forum a monster computer system with quad 3.6Mhz Intel's running at 2.0Ghz FSB, 100 x 1-Terrabyte HDD's, .......:)
