Something wierd has happened to clips I downloaded and some I already had: when I try to play them in WMPlayer all I see are shapes and colours - bright blues and greens and stuff: you can make out the proper image shapes underneath but it's all just colour, no tones.
The thumbnail view shows the correct image: they play correctly in Video LAN and most of them in Nero Player. The very few I tried to edit in VS9 worked fine, and the resulting Mpeg was fine and playable everywhere - until today. Now, although the thumbnail in the library shows correctly, and in the timeline they show correctly, as soon as I play them they go all silly.
This is NOT a VS9 problem/fault - I'm not saying that: this is following my most recent XP install.
I installed WMPlayer 10 over that which comes with VS9.
I have XPCodec Pack 1.3.0 installed. I don't remember (and maybe this is the point) if I had any other codecs installed or what they were.)
I cannot roll back to an earlier restore point.
Any suggestions and help would be, as usual, welcome.
Clips just primary colours
