Custom label

Post by devo_111111 »

Using the Label@once thing.

Like a previous poster I have some old CD Stomper label sheets that I want to use. Following the instructions to make a customized paper template in the user manual is easy. But when I click close new template does not show up in the paper size selector.

Any ideas? Is it a bug? Help me out here Steve.

Under the Media Type selector choose mixed media type. There I found the custom paper template for the CD Stomper labels that I had made.

I was able to save my custom setting by exporting it to a folder of my choice. The program gives it a UPA extension. Then it shows up when you click the page icon over the paper size dialogue.

But I have a different problem, also using old CD Stomper labels. I need to offset the top and left margins. On my Epson 2000P printer the print job is printing too high and too far to the left, so the label is not correct. I tried using the offsets available on the customize menu, and they won't stick. Neither will the label size. Whether I export the label definition, or just hit the "OK" button, the same thing happens. When I go back into the customize label panel, the offests have been reset to zero, and the label size has been reset to 8cm.

The label size I pick, 12 cm, actually does stick for the print job, even though the size is listed wrong in the definition. But the offsets are never right. They subbornly refuse to stick, and I get the printer's default margins of 10mm top and 10mm left, when I need 15mm top and 12mm left.

This is definitely a bug. I was hoping to be able to crank out a label quickly and easily, but this is hopeless. I'll have to go back to using Photoshop.

Today I went to Staple's and bought a Memorex CD/DVD package using their eXPressIt software. It worked like a charm out of the box. Has a utility for calibrating the printer, but I didn't even need to. I would prefer to do everything from within Movie Factory, but this is at least more accurate, if not faster. Their labels are pretty much the same format as the CDStomper, so you could use up your old CDStomper labels if you wanted to.
