Picture distortion

If I insert a picture in MSP 7 that was taken as a portrait it gets squashed. In preferences I have the setting Keep aspect ratio. Do I have to stretch the picture in a photo editor before inserting or am I missing a setting? It works fine in VS 8, it has space on the sides but I just zoom in and all is well. Thanks in advance for your help!

Right click it on the timeline and select media source opions, in the second drop down box select keep aspect ratio.
