I already searched and read the other topics on this subject. But decided to start it like a new topic. According to all of the information available so far, I have tried it all. I have read "recommended procedure" sticky; I have used Registry Management to be sure all is well with my registry; I have made a quicky (2 minute job) videos from my images and from ulead images, and even used the Wizard; saved each to mpeg2; closed out and opened a new file and went to the Share to Create the Disck. Same error message 4570; failure to reuse cache files and/or unspecified error 0X800411da (4570) or message 4101
I have run the disk defragmentation; the clean disk and made sure I have all of the latest windows updates. I did not download the latest Ulead update because it didn't relate to my computer.
I did notify Tech support and they gave me that first answer about not having anything in the time line, use the mpeg2 file etc etc and making sure in the Project Settings that the "Do not convert compliant MPEG files" is checked
I finally decided to run "repair" from the Add Programs section and there was no repair program possible even though Ulead Help said there was.
So am entirely frustrated and "talking too much"
That error code is usually associated with your Temp file/folder being too full. Temp is just that, Temporary files needed to run a program or two, and it could be that there are some Ulead files there which are conflicting with VS. I suggest you navigate to the Temp folder and highlight everything (Ctl +A) and Delete. Do not delete the Temp folder, just everything in it. There may be some files that Windows will not let you delete, but don't worry about those. The Temp folder is normally found in My Computer >C:/ >Documents and Settings > User Name > Local Settings > Temp. You must have your folder settings fixed so that you can see Hidden files/folders. Local Settings is a Hidden Folder.
The Repair function is only available if you have the full boxed version of the program. If you don't have it, you have to do a full reinstall.
As for your work flow, I am a little confused. When you say 'images', I interpret this as being still photos. But could you confirm that, or whether you mean video clips. If they are still images, then you say you save each to mpeg-2. That could be your problem -- if you are indeed making a slideshow of photos, then you simply set the time for each photo, put them all in the timeline, and go to Share > Create Video File > DVD to _then_ produce a single mpeg-2 of the slideshow. And given that it is a slideshow, you should probably change the Field Order to Frame Based.
Thank you for you answer but it didn't work. I cleared the Temporary files folder and tried one of the mpeg2 files I had ready for a tryout to burn and the same message came up.
I do a lot with video clips and jpeg images and create movies for the family. Yes I arrange them with transition effects, music, etc. and then save the finished product to MPEG2. I had created 4 movies since downloading Studio 9 upgrade prior to having this problem and didn't do anything different with my new projects.
I talked to my computer expert ever since this began and followed his suggestions also adn now he feels it may be something within the CPU as I have't had it cleaned etc for almost two years.
ONly other possible idea I had was that we have gone to daylight savings time since the problem began. I think it was Studio 8 that had that problem.
Hi,
Some suggestions, may work, may not. You know how computers are:
When you start a new project point your working folder to a new empty directory AND under "Preferences" (F6)key uncheck the default directoy and assign a rendering
directory off the root directory for easy access.
This way both directories will be empty.
Then close VS9 and restart again.
Before you LOAD the new Mpeg2 file in the create disk module hit the F6 key or "Preferences" and make sure the "Working Folder" is pointing to a valid directory. The create disk module is almost a separate program in itself and needs to also be configured.
So, start VS9 go directly to "Share -> Create Disk" and goto "Preferences" and check the working folder status (should be a valid and also an empty folder). If the directory that's assigned isn't valid you will receive that error.
Then IMPORT the mpeg2 file(s) and burn a dvd.
Load the Mpeg2 file AFTER you goto "Share -> Create Disk".
You load/import the files in the Create Disk module.
Don't carry files over from the timelline of VS9 into the create disk module.
If that doesn't work some configuration files are corrupted.
Then you can try this, may work and may not.
You need to enable hidden folders for this to work.
It will force Vs to rewrite a new set of configuration files in your <user> directory (NOT the MAIN configuration files).
Enable hidden folders on your system:
Goto this folder and RENAME the 9.0 directory, simply highlight the 9.0 and hit the "F2" key to rename the directory. Then restart VS9.
C:\Documents and Settings\<Your_User_Name>\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\9.0
Thanks, MD, for quite a few detailed instructions. Definitely will try it all out. I do have a separate hard drive where all files I am working with to perpare the movie are stored. So will look into this idea.
I'm also going to make a "quickie" strictly beginner movie with my Windows Movie maker and see if I can Burn the DVD when that is done.
Again, thanks for taking the time. I'll get back to you
Well, MD, it didn't work. Two weird things happened. I loaded a 35 second video clip I had on hand, created the mpeg followed all directions faithfully and darned if it didn't burn the movie. But it took about 20 minutes!
Then I checked the applications file and the folder I had renamed was still there but a new 9.0 folder was there. So I got rid of the oldest one, renamed the new one. Started from square one on my currrent project, followed all directions again--no luck. Same message.
Brought up Nero Movie Maker which I have never used but did a quick one with a couple of pictures and one clip. Worked perfectly, burned the movie and I just played it back.
So it has to be ULEAD (I think). By the way Studio 7 and Studio 8 were still in my applications file so I sent them to the recycle bin. Will this be a future problem? I won't delete the recycle bin for awhile. Hope you see this. We have our own family type forum thing. This place has a lot of members!
I've had this error happen a time or two, and it is frustrating. However it does have to do with the cache files, either in the Temp folder described above, or maybe even a working folder that VS9 is using.
Don't know if this will work for you, as it seems you have gone through just about all the options. What I done, was cleaned out all temp folders, including the Temp folder found under C:\Windows. I even cleaned out my Temp Internet, and went to the working folder(s) being used by Ulead applications, and deleted all the stuff in them. Honestly I don't know which one worked by finally was able to burn. Just make sure not to delete a VSP (project) file. You might also check under your root directory (C:\) for a Ulead folder, that VS may be using, as well as any My Documents>VS9. I have 2 user profiles, so I also will check under each one, just in case I inadvertently set the working folder to the wrong one..
I have 2 x 200 gig HDD's both identical (Seagate). I set up working folders, 1 for each of my Ulead Apps, on the secondary drive. Then I have a folder for completed videos (rendered ready to burn), and one for my Project files. My secondary is split into partitions (working, backup, completed). On a daily basis I delete everything found under a Temp folder.
OK,
In your case and also the recommended VS procedure.
Whenever you are ready to create a dvd and done editing the video first prepare all your files, edits, transisitons PRIOR to going to the "Share -> Create Disk" module.
You goto "Share -> Create File" (or somtin like dat) and create a mpeg2 dvd compliant file on your harddisk. You will see VS as it converts the video and is creating a new Mpeg2 file.
A dvd as you know is made up of Mpeg2 file(s), one or more videos.
When you goto "Share" there are a few choices. Either export the project "Same as Project Settings" or set the mpeg encoding parameters manually.
Same as Project Settings should work for you or use a pre-defined template setting.
If your going into the disk creation module which is "Share -> Create Disk" that is actually a separate program in itself. Somehow the 2 programs aren't talking to each other. I would suspect maybe different configurations between them that are conflicting.
Whatever the case and as described in the preferred method:
Do not go to "Share -> Create Disk" with an edited project or any video or audio files on the timeline.
You create the videos on the harddisk first. So export/create the mpeg2 files on the harddisk.
Then close VS, and start a new project. Go directly to the "Share -> Create Disk" and in that module then load the mpeg2 file that you previously created from the timelline.
You can try to import the project file into the burning disk module.
Some people say that works, but most experienced users do as I've posted.
This way when you do actually create chapters, menus the program is working with a dvd compliant file(s) and doesn't have to re-render them.
The dvd creation process is very fast when your working with dvd compliant files and that what you do in the first step. The first step you perform all the editing etc and then create a mpeg2 dvd compliant file on the harddisk.
Then to burn the dvd with menus etc start a new project and goto "Share -> create disk". In the Create disk module you Import the dvd compliant videos your created previously.
So, do not goto "Share -> Create Disk" with any video or audio files on the timeline. Goto "Share-> Create Disk" with Nothing(clean) on the timeline.
This isn't a new thing, been doing it since Version 6, although I don't get an error if I do go into the disk creation module with something on the timeline.
If I do accidentally open up that module with something on the timelline I close down because it's to slow a method.
I printed your suggestions so I can once again try.
MD by the time I burn my DVD, I have created serveral what I label chapters and they are rendered, MPEG2 file created and ready to go. Everything is out of the working area--video,image,music, etc. Honest
All of my working files are on my Hard Drive F away from my C: root drive. Honest.
I will try to get rid of more temp stuff but I usually do this regularly with my defragment and cleanup disk tools. My C drive is 80 gb with 65 gb free; my auxiliary drive is 111 gb with 108 gb free. Whenever I complete a Ulead project all of those files are backed up and removed from the hard drive.
I'll keep trying. Have to do some darn old housework today.
It would really help for you to post back specifcally every step you do
in VS all the way up to the point of the program that then produces the error.
This will save you hours of wasted time by posting the following and reading
answers from the experienced users.
If you post back every step you do from start to finish that causes the
error then many experienced users can give you more specific solutions.
You have said " I open VideoStudio then load the file and goto "Share -> Create Disk".
That's wrong and not the recommended method.
You should be saying: or doing:
I open up VideoStudio, then go directly to "Share -> Create Disk".
Then I import my videos etc. etc.
Hope this helps, like I said there are persons on this forum that have used VS for years and can definitely help you if you are specific in posting your
procedure's. You may be doing everything correctly and have a corrupted
installation etc. So, this will save you time and headaches.
