"Create disc image" Grayed Out for MF5 and HD-DVD

Post by highvista »

I'm attempting to create a disc image of an HD-DVD project that I've authored from an MPEG2 file. But both "Create to disc" and "Create disc image" are grayed out. If I switch to a DVD project type, the options become available.

I just purchased a MF5 license and activated a "Try Before Your Buy" installation of the product. Thanks for any info on what I need to do to fix this.

I just tried MF5 in the HD mode and the buttons are not greyed out, you might have to reinstall the software.

The Try Before You Buy software doesn't include the entire package, my download was 221 MB and the extra content is 92 MB. If I remember right the TBYB software was only 90MB.

In my opinion the activation route is not the way to purchase Ulead software. The best way to purchase their software is to go to the Ulead Mall and buy software from that site.

There are many folks that are having problems with the TBYB software, such as patches and capabilities of the software.

Thanks for the information. Is there any way to get the full version of the software once you've purchased an activation code for the TBYB version? I couldn't find any way to download a full version on their website without buying it a second time. :?

You should e-mail Ulead support and request a link to the full down load and the extre content package.

Probs with MF5

Post by romilar »

I am having the same issues wrt both buttons being inaccessable. I have tried reinstalling per instructions and reloading twice, and still no go.

I have captured my HC1 footage using HDV Split. I then rename the files with an MPG extender. MF5 imports the clips, however I get to the burn screen, the choices I need are grayed out. Noticed when I use the pulldown in the bottom left, and go with any other option other than HDV, the choices are no longer grayed out.
Needless to say I am a bit disappointed, as that is the functionality I purchased the software for.

I purchased through the ULEAD Store, and did NOT use the TBYB option, since it was indicated that might be one of the reasons why the options were grayed out.

My PC has ample power (P4 3.0GHZ w/2GB RAM), and plenty of disc space, so I really dont think this is a hardware issue, since I do use older versions of Premiere, Vegas, and DVD Workshop with no problems.

If I cannot get a solution, I am seriously considering returning the software, especially this functionality is mentioned and tauted in the software description, and it is non functional, so far.

Any fixes for this problem yet?
Thanks in advance for any help, suggestions...

You might try to remove MF5 and reinstall it.

I have the same camera that you do and captured HD video with MF5 and made a HD DVD folder on my hard drive with the video.

I don't have the problem with Movie Factory 5.

Tried that twice so far...dunno why that sould make a difference, especially since I was not using the TBYB version..Seem to me that someone at ULEAD could come up with some sort of cogent explanation as to why this happens, other than giving uninstall/reinstall advice..
I'm happy for your success, though.

Do you capture from the HC1 directly through MF5, or do you use another program for the capture, as I do?

Thanks

I used to capture with MSP8, but the capture was very jerkey, I downloaded the trial version of MF5 and tested the capture which solved the jerkey capture and preview.

I just bought Video Studio 10+ to see if the edit is faster than MSP8.

MSP8 is supposed to be a better editor but the software is not up to par with the latest from Ulead (MF5 and VS10+).

You might want to download the trial of VS10+, it has the ability to burn HD DVD.

Well, did the "complete" uninstall, then downloaded and installed the VideoStudio 10 trial: the buttons are grayed out in that program as well...go figure...

so far, striking out with the ULEAD products...

I am using j_chunter's workflow to create a Divx disc, although currently, I can only play it on my PC...that seens to be going smoothly (thanks, john)

The Create to disc is greyed because you don't have a HD burner (we know that).

I can create HD DVD Folders and
Create disc image.

My project is small and only about 2 gigs.
How large is your project?

I have the same issue, Create disc is grayed out
as is Create disc image. I can create HD DVD folders without any problem. I've installed the full version on two different computer with the same result.

Both projects are about a minute long and are under 50 megs.

...edit....

Just tried a project that is 6.9 gig same issue.

As far as I can tell this product DOES NOT WORK.

I would like to ask one question, what DVDMF version do you use?

I know it's DVDMF 5, but please check the build number by clicking on the Settings and Options button on the bottom left corner of DVDMF and select About Ulead DVD MovieFactory.

Thanks for your patience.

Small project

Post by romilar »

My project is very small...about 3 minutes. I'll have to check the version of MF5, however VS10 has the same grayed out box for ISO creation.
I'll check my version number when get home later..

Thanks for all the participation...hopefully there is a solution to this..otherwise I am going to see if I can get a refund on the product. To be honest, I dont really want to do much more reinstalling and such: already spending too much time on software that should function as advertised.

I can, btw, create the HD DVD folders successfully with both programs: just no way to write the results to an ISO file.

You will not be able to select burn to HD DVD due to the fact that the burners are not available yet. Blue Ray support has been withdrawn from MF5 and is not included in VS10.

Uleads note on the information page for MF5 indicates that a burning pack will be required to burn HD DVDs and or Blue Ray.
You can request to be notified when the buning pack becomes available:
