Using VS9, with XP, Sony digital camera
Here's what I WANT to get:
1. First clip 30 secs. long, repeats & repeats until I press play to see the movie.
2. Chapters (12 or more) organized numerically.
Here's what I DID get:
1. First clip 30 secs. long, plays once and goes to first clip of movie, which doesn't begin until you press play.
2. Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4 show. Clicking on correct arrow will take you to next 4 chapters, ALSO numbered 1,2,3,4.
Note: When organizing the clips, I DID check the spot that says to repeat over and over.
Thanks in advance.

As many do, because it's not explained very clearly, you have confused chapters with titles. It sounds like your project is one single mpeg, with separate points throughout marked as chapters. That mpeg is known as a title. If you want all the thumbnails on your menu numbered sequentially, then all of them have to be separate titles. (Although, one way around the numbering issue is to uncheck Show Thumbnail Number under Advanced Settings then type in the number you want under Edit Text Description)
In other words, say I have a project that includes a birthday party, Easter, vacation, and Christmas. If I make that as a single project and mark the 4 points, they are chapters. But if I make each of those as separate projects, then at the Share, Create Video step you would choose Add Video to add your four separate projects. Then on your menu they would then be 4 separate titles that you could then add chapters to if you like.
Also, if you don't want a title menu, just a chapter menu, make sure you uncheck Add Title Menu under Advanced Settings during the Create Disc step.
As far as the first clip repeating, I don't think you can. The spot that you say you checked to repeat over and over is Auto Repeat When Disc Playback Ends (if my assumption is correct). That will repeat the entire disc after the entire disc has played.
