HELP!!!!! Printing images from video on 7.0 version.....

Post by Bikerbabe »

I purchased the Video Studio 7.0 to get still pix from my videos of my son wrestling. I can get the still pix off the video but can not get them to print out. Can anyone help me? The still pix look great, but there is no way to get them to print. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Video Studio is a video editing program, not a still photograph program. And I am afraid I no longer have VS7 on my computer. Certainly, in VS9, when you save a still image from a video, then you simply right click on the new photo where it appears on the Images Library pane, and the choice to Print it is given. But I can't remember if it was similar on VS7.

More generally, to print any photo on your computer, you could use any of a huge variety of photographic programs, and I would be surprised if your computer does not have one on it. Even when I got my video camera, it came with a disc which contained a program for touching up -- and printing -- still photos which can be taken with the video camera. Most modern colour printers these days also come with programs which allow you to sort, edit and print photos.

Failing all that, if you are using Windows XP, then simply open My Computer/ Windows Explorer, highlight where the photo you want to print is stored on the computer, and right click on your mouse and choose 'Print'.

Thank you for the info.
On VS7 there is no way to right click on the photo to print it out. Also when you sabe the still photo it is only saved on the Ulead program, which does not allow you to print it out. Do you know of any other PC programs that I can use to do the video to still pix images I need?

If you have saved a still image from a video while in VideoStudio it will save a .jpg or a .bmp in the capture folder you have specified, the little picture in the library (thumbnail) is just an icon pointing to the real image - it is not the image itself.

If you don't know where the image is stored then RIGHT click over the thumbnail and choose 'Properties' then through the middle of the dialogue box you will see the file location - if it is not showing all of the path click on it and use the right arrow on your keyboard to scroll to the end.

As for printing it out - once you have a .jpg or a .bmp then there are hundreds of software packages around ranging from the free to the very expensive.

If you are running Windows XP then you will have Windows Picture and Fax viewer installed free on your PC - you will also have Windows 'Paint' - either of those will print a picture for you. or you could insert it in a Windows 'Word' document and print it that way.

I have the thumbnails saved , but it will not allow me to right click on properties. The only 2 things that you can right click on are delete or image. When you click on image it takes you to a message that says relink. You can't relink anything. I have many pix saved from the video but can't get them to the point where they can be printed out.

Sounds as though you have got your system in a bit of a mess - there are two ways you may be able to get out of it - first look at the title under the thumbnail of one of your images - it will be something like "uvs060410-002.bmp" (or .jpg depending on what YOU chose) - now do a search of your PC for that file name - you should then find the actual image file - it is possibly in C:\My Documents\Ulead VideoStudio\7.0 - but it will depend on what capture folder you specified when you saved the still image.

If that doesn't work for you then I would delete all the still image thumbnails and start again - put your video in the timeline - find the frame you want and create a still frame - now when your image thumbnail appears in your library you must be able to put your mouse cursor over it and RIGHT click to get at the properties which will then give you the path to the actual image file - so that you can print it as I described above. Your mouse cursor MUST be over the image thumbnail when you right click to get the context menu which includes the 'properties ' option

Seems like you may not realize *you* choose where the still images get stored.

Go to File > Preferences and check both the "General" tab and the "Preview" tab. Each of them allows you to type in exactly where you want video or still images to be stored.

Then after Saving Current Frame as Still Image, you can go to the folder you previously specified and there the image will be. It will be named with a long combination of letters and numbers, but if you select thumbnail view, you'll see the image. Yoiu can always rename it.

Next question will be: Are the proportions correct?
