Capturing footage from dvd - invalid parameter

Post by trotsky »

When attempting to capture footage from a dvd using ULEAD VID STUDIO 9 some of the footage will not capture due to 'Invalid Parameter'. I have no idea what this means or how it can be fixed. Can anyone help please?

...and how exactly are your trying to 'capture' from the DVD -- by putting the DVD into your computer DVD drive? By copying the Files on it to your hard disk? Using the 'Insert DVD/DVD-VR' command or just changing the .vob extensions to mpg? It might also be useful to know the properties of the files you have successfully captured.

I am loading the DVd into the cpu and selecting the 'import from DVD/DVD-VR' option.

The properties of my successful capture are as follows:

video type - mpeg-2 video, upper field first
total frames - 17,724 frames(s)
attributes - 24bits, 704x576, 4:3
frame rate - 25.000 frames/sec
data rate - variable bit rate (max 9396kbs)

audio type - dolby digital audio
total samples - 34, 030, 080 samples
attributes - 48000 hz 2/0 (l,r)
layer - none
bit rate - 256 kbps

Have you tried the other two options I mentioned i.e. copying the files from the DVD to your hard disk and then using Insert DVD/DVD-VR from there, or else simply renaming the extension?

In Windows Explorer/My Computer, highlight the file and select 'Rename'. Leave the first part of the name but change '.vob' to '.mpg'.
