I'm having the same problem! I'm using Movie Factory 4. I have never had this problem before, I'm using .avi files as usual with Dolby Digital 2.0 tracks. The converting progress gets about half way and then I get that annoying message. Help!!!!

AVI is not a single format... its a container format that can hold any number of audio & video formats. If these are AVI/DivX files, conversion problems are common. AVI/DV files (the 13GB per hour files that come from a digital camcorder) don't seem to cause much trouble.

If you have one of the highly-compressed AVI formats, you may need a 3rd-party conversion program to convert it to AVI/DV or MPEG-2 first. One you can try is SUPER (FREE !!!). However, when I used SUPER, I had trouble with an AC3 soundtrack. I had to use Ulead Video Studio to strip-out the soundtrack to a WAV file... if I remember correctly.
