VS-9 Audio problem using video filters

[ARJRER]

When ever I try using a video filter on a video clip I loose the sound for that clip.

Ex: I used the brightness filter on a clip and when I played the clip by itself or in the total project the clip was silent. As soon as i took the filter off the clip the sound returned.

Am I doing something wrong or is there another step I must take that I am missing?
Please help.
