Can Not Burn DVD or Create ISO File

Post by fredp »

I just installed MF 5 after trying the trial version to create a simple 1 video dvd with no menu. I completely uninstalled the trial then installed the registered version. (Twice already after it failed to work first time)

I created a new project, and imported 5 videos from a finalized DVD created using a Sony Handycam DVR-DVD405. No problem importing video clips.

Moved on to menu, edited only the menu item names, then moved to burn DVD. Selected Create to Disk. Selected my Plextor DVDR PX-740A 1.2 (Latest version) and then clicked burn.

Everything renders OK, then I get a "Could Not Create VOB Folder" error.

OK. Maybe a DVD Burner incompatibility?

Then selected to "Create Disk Image" so I could burn with a real burner. Back through the irritating render process and then an instant "Could Not Create Disk Image" Error.

In other words, the software does nothing except make a pretty little demo (Preview works just fine and looks good) that is worthless except in the software itself. I can not burn a DVD, and can not even create an ISO Image to the Hard Drive???? Suppose the Hard Drive is "Incompatible"????

Fast software though... Took 15 minutes to create the DVD, then 4 hours to try and burn it with no success.

The MOST irritating is that it errors out in about a tenth of a second after 10 minutes of rendering, which you have to do again just to see if anything has changed?? NO error recovery????? What's that all about????

Any Suggestions????

Hi,
Here is something that should be read. It's on the ulead web site when you download the trial version of their software.

I copied the text and will paste below:
............................................................................................................................................................
1# This trial version file is 82MB. Your download time depends on your equipment and Internet connection. Please be sure you have sufficient time and system resources BEFORE you begin downloading
2# Save the setup file into a temporary directory on your hard drive. If you own another Ulead product, please make sure you install the trial into a folder other than the one where your existing Ulead product programs are :) :)
............................................................................................................................................................

Of course it's to late for you but is your project pointing to a good working folder with enough harddisk space?
Always seems to be a problem when a trial version is installed and then the retail version is installed. That's not uncommon for many programs.

Nero has similar problems and at their website they have written utilities to completely un-install their software including removing the registry entree's.

Maybe roll the machine back in time before you installed MF5.
Then install MF5. Just make sure the "Working Folder" is pointing to a NTFS partition at least 2 1/2 times the size of your project.

Hope this helps,

HTChein,
I don't remember the exact link but on the Nero site are the
programs they have written to fix the same problems.
As you know Nero also bundles oem software with burners.
They have similar problems. Their tech support use to give the same
answers, edit this and that etc.

Windows has a poor and fragile database/program management core.
