After downloading XL patch, I cannot access PhotoImpact

Post by imanoone »

I'm a novice user, almost helpless and need some advice.

I downloaded the XL update pack from the ULead website. Now when I try to open PhotoImpact I get an error message "Procedure entry point UPathIsOnlyPrimitive could not be located in the dynamic link library U32path.dll" When I ran Norton Utilities One Button Checkup it said I am missing these files:editexe.fourier.dll; imageenh.dll; uexiflib.dll.

Is there anything I can do to get access to my PhotoImpact again?
If I download a trial version of PhotoImpact 11, will I lose the photos I have stored in PhotoImpact XL?

I'd appreciate any suggestions you might have for me.

Hi Imanoone, welcome to the forums..:)

You might try reinstalling PhotoImpact XL, or if you have the disc try doing a repair. Go to Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs, and choose Repair.

To re-install view the 4th or 5th post down:

Thanks for the help. I read the post about reinstalling and tried the search feature on the Tech FAQs. Now my question is, will I lose my already saved images when I re-install?

What image files? Are they located in one of the Libraries? If so you can navigate to C:>Program Files>Ulead Systems>Photo Impact 11>Ulead.dat . All the library files (templates, images etc..) are located under that folder. Copy them to somewhere else on your harddrive.

I always have made it practice when working on my own images, to have a folder setup to save them in, just for when I have to re-install. For example I have a few graphic applications, and I have a folder under My Documents that is specific to each one, like PhotoImpact Projects.

Hi Ron. I really appreciate your help. It's comforting to know there's someone out there who's willing to assist a novice like me. I did find the Ulead.dat file and it is empty. With my limited knowledge, I'm assuming that means that all of the pictures/photos/images I've saved in the past are in the "my pictures" file on my computer (which is where I go to access them anyway). I was thinking that they were stored in the PhotoImpact program. I'll work on saving them somewhere else as well.

So much to learn, so little time...
