While rendering (or creating a mpeg2 file of my 30 minute soccer .DVP file) (mpeg2, 6K constant, 48K, 128bit Audio, field order A) I receive "video error code = %s " and the rendering stops, strangest error code I have ever seen and I work for a computer company. This happens at the exact spot I am transistioning from Vb to Va using a 1sec blowout transition, I can recreate it. (one of the very few odd transitions I use, normally I use crossfade or fade to black) I tried a few other transitions at that timeframe with no problems. Didn't get any hits on the search list. Just an observation and a FYI for the readers.
I changed to a different transition and moved on.
(I know..I know, upgrade to 7.3 or 8, I didn't want to in the middle of a project.)
Thx....Kevin

The colour filter is in {f6} Preferences, on the second tab.
The reason I suggested this is that if you have it switched off, MSP may produce colours outside the gamut of your TV system (NTSC is slightly more restrictive than PAL). It's possible that the error is the result of the encoder trying to work with colours it's not supposed to work with.

Don't see how the colour filter could affect a transition. It should be checked if you plan to use your project for TV, unchecked for computer monitor viewing. I would guess the transition file may be corrupt.
Have just tried the transition on my system and it worked OK.

I'm only going off personal experience. Using Cinemacraft to encode an AVI of a wedding, I got to a frame where it continually crashed out with an error. It was on a section where a sequinned dress was catching the light and reflecting it at the camera. I put a semitransparent black matte over the dress and it fixed the problem.
I concluded that it was the brightness of the white that was causing the problem, on the basis that if it was the complexity of the dress, simply dimming the shimmer shouldn't make any difference to the crash. The theory falls apart when you consider that the source material was unchanged DV, and therefore should have been colour legal to start with...
Anyway - it was the encoder that was failing because of an anomaly in the video.
The transition Kevin is using could be introuducing illegal colours (either through the resampling of pixels as the transition progresses, or the CGI portion of the transition) so turning on the filter should at least discount that as a possibility.

Thanks Gorf / Devil for your input, I learned a few things from your replys...
I am starting to suspect a corruption problem in my transition folder. mpg rendering was good for a couple of passes but then the error showed up again on a fade to black transition.
I did a few tweeks and did a final render, iso image, and created a master DVD for the banquet.
All is good, I truly appreciate your posts and this forum.
