Multi Trim Video Problem

I use VS8 on P4 XP. I have a problem with Multi Trim Video, that is, if the clip is more than 2 hours long and if I slide the jog bar from +32X to say -2X without stopping anywhere in between, the VS8 sometimes crashes. Has this happened to anyone? Can anyone answer why? I have installed all the relevant pathces.

All the edit jog controls are twitchy and hard to control with large video files. If you are at all light on memory, you can easily get the computer to start thrashing pages back and forth to disk.

If you want to do serious editing, you have to break them up into smaller files with the Save Trimmed Video control. The first steps will be difficult with a 2 hour video file. I use Multi Trim video control only on small files (30 sec to 2 minutes).

Thanks, I'll do just that. Break the large clip into number of smaller clips and then apply multi trim to do precise cutting and shuffling. Without forgetting to save the project from time to time
