Movie factory 4 will not burn DVD
Nature of the problem
Everything works fine authoring the DVD menu but then after running through 5 minutes of 'building file' it says it cannot burn to the DVD-R and gives me this code: DVDR-DAO-SPTI-53-02-05-30-05
Properties of your source files (format, file size, where did you get it?)
I have the DVD PAL MPEG I created at the end of Video Studio 8.0, then I added a video background menu with MF 4.
But At the last page of MF 4 it goes through all the processes (up to 69%) before it stops and gives me the error message.
I also have the ISO disc image file that was created during the processes that lead up to the burning, but even that will not burn to DVD-R even with VCD DVD Disc Image Recorder that came with the trial.
Output format (file, DVD, VCD, SVCD)
I am trying to write my project to a MAXELL 16x DVD-R
PAL or NTSC:
PAL
Error Codes (if any)
DVDR-DAO-SPTI-53-02-05-30-05
I would greatly appreciate any help from anybody who knows the answer or had figured out a way around it! I am getting scared also as this is a short film for college and it is due in by Fri 14th!!!!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE anybody who has the tiniest idea about how I can get my Film onto the DVD, any other way (even if it is without using MF) ....tell me!

Do you have any other burning software on your system? Sometimes Nero or Roxio will conflict with Ulead.
If this is the case, one solution is to "burn" the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to your hard drive*, and then use your other burning software to copy these folders to an actual DVD. You may be able to do the same thing with your ISO image, depending on your burning software.
*When you get to the burning screen, uncheck the Create Disc box, and check the Create DVD Folders box.

Thanks for your help dvddoug, but I can't seem to get it to work.
I successfully made a disc image .iso file, but it will not burn to the dvd no matter whether I use any of the ulead programs or Nero Express.
- Would it really help to uninstall all Nero programs completely?
I also dragged and dropped the .iso file onto the DVD-R, it took 6 minutes to copy, but that has not worked either, when I try to open the disc contents, it still tells me that they are 'waiting to be written to CD'.
But I definately do have a DVD RW drive, and when I troubleshoot it it says it's fine, and yes, it is enabled.
Tell me, do I have to format the DVD-R(s) I am trying to burn to before they can be used? If so would they have to be formatted in a specific way?
Would it help if I re-rendered my movie from Video Studio into a MPEG instead of a DVD PAL, even if the DVD PAL says it already is MPEG? I have heard of MPEG2 and I do not know the difference, or even if it matters.
It could just be down to my PC being broken or something. Assuming that my DVD writer is down, If I write the .iso file onto my removable hard drive (a 2gb psp memory card) then take it to a seperate PC elsewhere then use Ulead movie factory or another similar DVD movie burner on that system, will my movie be intact and still have the my animated menus I worked so hard on?
Sorry my list of problems is so long, but i'm just trying to cover every base.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

19pack,
You don't have to pre-format DVD-R or DVD+R. That will make them un-usable.
The only program I'm aware of that can format a dvd-r or +r was Drag2Disk made by Roxio. Just use them new from the package.
Yes, you can copy and move .iso files and burn them to disk.
When you use DVD-RW or DVD+RW disks they can be used in various modes. If you want to drag and drop files to a dvd-rw or dvd+rw disk then it needs to be formatted (usually by the program that is controlling the writing process). That is called data-writing.
To create a dvd-video disk that will play in the computer and also in a stand-alone dvd player you need to create a dvd-video disk.
You said you dragged the files to the dvd to burn and it didn't work.
That's because you made a data disk of the video material.
If your using Dvd-rw or Dvd+rw disks in MF to create a video-dvd then you don't want to format the disk. If the disk is new just use it. If it's been used before then erase the disk first before trying to write to it.
Some dvd-rw's and dvd+rw's have to be fully erased to work. Others can be quick erased. Full erase should always work.
What version of MF4 are you using? Is it a retail full version or a SE version?
Have you downloaded and installed all the updates to the program? Then reboot the machine.
With MF4 if you didn't UN-Check the "Burn Disk" checkbox then the iso file is also corrupted because the program didn't finish.
If you want to create an iso file to burn later uncheck the burn disk check-box.
If the process completes without any errors then there's a problem with the actual burning to disk. It's hard to troubleshoot the problem if both boxes are checked ON.
If you still get an error creating only an .iso file then check any audio files that you may have added for the menus. Some compressed audio files generate that error.
You said you need to do this by Friday April 14th.
VideoStudio 8 has a burning module.
Start videostudio 8, do NOT load any projects, goto "Share -> Create Disk".
In the Create Disk/burning module import the video you created previously using VS8. Make sure it's the Video and Not the project.
Create simple menus and try to burn the dvd.
Going by my watch you have 48 hours left.
Good luck

The error code DVDR-DAO-SPTI-53-02-05-30-05 means:
1. DVDR: you are trying to write a DVD disc.
2. DAO: it will be burned in Disc-at-Once mode.
3. SPTI: it will use Windows SCSI Pass-Through Interface to burn the disc.
4. 53-02: the operation is to write a disc.
5. 05-30-05: the writing format is not compatible with the media.
Try the CD/DVD Burning Pack in http://www.ulead.com/tech/dmf/dmf.htm and see if it fixes the problem.
Also, please tell the burner model so people can help. If you still cannot burn the disc after updating the update pack, you might need to contact the manufacturer of the burner for updated burner firmware.
Try another brand media might also help.
Since you have mentioned Nero also cannot burn the disk, then it should be the problem of your burner or the media you use.
Hope this helps.

Wow, thanks for your help!
I still cannot burn to DVDR but hopefully anybody else out there with a similar problem checking these boards may have found the answers they need!
It may just be that my DVDRW Drive is broken or lacks the neccesary drivers, I have never burnt to DVD using it before, only CD-RW. The model of DVDRW Drive I have is:
_NEC DVD_RW ND-2510A
I tried using Video Studio 8.0's own disc burning service, but the same thing happens...goes through all the processes until just after it Finalises VOB and attempts burning (at any speed) It shuts down the process, ejects the Disc and gives me an error message.
However this time (attempting to burn in VS8) it gave me a different error code:
DVDR-INC-SPTI-2A-02-05-30-05
with this aswell: [93006:1:0]
So I have concluded that the reason it wasn't burning on Video Satudio 4 was NOT because I had a complicated background video to my DVD menu screen, because the menu I made with VS8 was a simple as possible (static background, no music)
I did what you suggested and made a Disc Image file with the 'create disc' option UNchecked, so hopefully I now have an uncorrupted copy of my entire project with its original animated menus (The .iso was created using MF4) to be transferred to my removable memory stick.
One last thing before I take the .iso to another PC with a functioning DVDRW drive:
- Will I also need the seperate VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS DVD folders aswell as the .iso Disc Image on my memory stick?, or are these folders already a part of the Disc Image File? I would hate to make the 40 minute trip to use the college computer's DVD Burning program(s) to find that the .iso is not enough to create a working DVD.
Again, many thanks for your support!

It's the same error code, since you can see 05-30-05 in the error code.
I remember NEC has some updated firmware for your burner, maybe you can contact the manufacturer to look for updating.
Hope this helps.

Thanks everybody who helped me with this problem...I eventually managed to get the .iso file to an internet cafe, but thier burners still said the .iso was corrupted.
However I solved the problem by using an Apple Mac's mac the Ripper and DVD2one software to burn it.
If you're interested in the final film made using Ulead software products; I've put the film up on YouTube:
