I have an old demo version (it says Ver.9 on the CD jacket) of Pinnacle Studio Plus that came bundled with a firewire card I bought some time ago. Unfortunately, I don't need the app anymore and I can't seem to uninstall it. When I go to the Cntrl Pnl to start the uninstall it asks for the CD, but the CD only wants to INSTALL the app. Quite frustrating. If I remember correctly, it also asks for the serial #, which I don't have because (again) it was a demo.
Can anyone on the tech support staff help me?

Pinnacle Studio is not a Ulead product. Please contact Pinnacle for your problem.

My Bad
Actually, I'm only 1/2 wrong. While that wasn't the right product, I found the correct CD, which BTW is a ver 8 Demo, but I was correct in that it offers NO WAY to UNinstall the demo. Oh! There wasn't any serial #. Now that I've admitted my mistake can someone tell me how to avoid keeping this app without reformatting my entire hard drive?

Sorry, but it is still nnot clear whether you are talking about a trial version of Ulead Video Studio 8 or of Pinnacle Studio 8.... I am pretty sure the Ulead version came with an uninstall program. I assume you have tried Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs, or failing that, just deleting the relevant folder using My Computer/Windows Explorer?

I am indeed spking of the Ulead VideoStudio ver. 8 demo. As for the UNinstall, I am DEFINITELY sure it didn't come with ANY such utility. What happens is when I go to the Cntrl Pnl/Uninstall Programs it asks for the CD. When I put the CD in it just tries to RE-install it all over again.
I am also DEFINITELY savvy enough to know that if the uninstall was either on my hard drive OR the CD it would have a call for it in that batch cmd...wherever it is.
Now, as for doing it the hard way...if you can tell me which .dll's, etc. and other hard-to-find files to delete, AND which folder(s) in the Registry to delete I can do that. It just wasn't clear what those files were.
Thanks,
KC

Ken wasn't speaking of a separate utility to uninstall. Just the normal control panel uninstall procedure. It sounds possibly that the uninstall information for the program has become corrupted or wasn't recorded correctly in the first place so it it trying to restore that first.
Go to the control panel and select to remove the program. When it asks for the CD do so. It is probably trying to re-install the uninstall info so that it then can do the uninstall! Still with me? Even if it does reinstall do that then remove the CD and try the control panel again. This time it "should" do the uninstall.
Phew, think I confused myself there!
OR!
You could just do what Ken says in his next post!

OK. Here was the recommended uninstall of VS8. Apart from deleting the main program folder you will need to do the following:
1) Clean up C:\Windows\temp directory. Delete anything to do with VS 8. Clean up all files in C:\Documents and Settings\[UserName]\Local Settings\Temp folder.
2) Delete folder {4F1DA6BF-3614-48A1-9970-9E90F646789E} in C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information (Please set "Show hidden files and folders." in folder option in OS)
3) Delete the folder "Ulead VideoStudio 8.0" folder in C:\program files\ulead system
4) Run Regedit from Start/Run in Windows task bar and delete folder {4F1DA6BF-3614-48A1-9970-9E90F646789E} which should be in
KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\
