surface smoothing

Post by teejay »

Hi,

I have been trialling Cool3D and have a question about the surfaces.

I have found that there are visible gradient lines in any 'metallic' type surface, and would like to know if there are settings to create one smooth surface?

For example, say I have create a simple steel plate/rectangle object and have used one of the text object presets, i want the surface to appear as a single smooth metal, not gradient lines.

I am currently using the Best Output option and my properties are PAL 720 x 576 full frame video.

If this can be done, determines whether i buy the full version or not. I currently use Lightwave 3D but Cool 3D is much quicker for simple objects.

Regards,

If you are using Ulead COOL 3D Production Studio, when you click on the object, check the Precision and Quality setting on the Attribute Panel.

Increase the Precision level then you will see the surface to be smoother. Change the Subdivide method would also help.

Hope this helps.

thanks for your speedy reply.

I have done what you suggested, as well as I found that I did not have the 'filter' box selected in the texture tab. That did exactly what I was looking for.

Just another quick question though..... Does this trial version contain all of the presets, or just a few. In other words, if/when i buy the full version, do i get additional presets to what is contained within the trial?

Thanks again,

After you buy the product online, Ulead will send you a mail that has download links for extra components (if what you purchased is a download version).

You can also find the extra components in http://www.ulead.com/c3ds/esd.htm but they are not for trial version.

If you wish to have a installation CD with all components, check Send me a CD or something like that when you buy the download version.

Best regards,

There is also a wealth of free stuff on the internet that will integrate into Cool3D.
