Audio crossfading not working - DVD moviestudio trial

When I try to add a transitional effect between two clips in the trial version of DVD moviestudio 4, the audio from the first clip does not transition into the audio of the second clip (eg with a simple audio crossfade). Without this, I cant imagine any of the transitional effects being of any use whatsoever.
Can someone please confirm that this functionality is turned on in the full version of the software.
