Hey,
I'm Totally with you!!!. I also think that the fault is with the program. Everything works well except this program. Its not logic!!!

I too am going to stop purchasing programs from ulead until they rectify there programs.
I have already asked them for a refund.

It's a pity that Ulead uses their first releases to Beta test their programs (That's the way I see it).
Unfortunately they also give this out as a "try before you buy" version. I think many people will refrain from buying the products if they experience the problems we do.

I've also been caught every upgrade withthe fantastic new features (and they are) on offer. Unfortunately they come with bugs.

As I'm a very loyal supporter of Ulead's products (and don't like hopping between applications) my next step would rather be to wait for the SP releases to come uot first. Unfortunately, if everyone start using this practice, Ulead will be of the market due to a lack of sales, and that would be a sad day. I think support can be streamlined as well, and more honest on faults, rather than following the now standard "uninstaal / re-install policy" that we've had the last few weeks. Seems like an auto responder, as this is sent no matter what your questions are.

I realy hope they get their ducks in arow, because the Ulead programs plays a huge roll in my business (although not irreplaceble) and I would love to keep on supporting them.

Maybe the same problem as you

Post by jaswier »

I might be experiencing the same problem as you with MF5. I think I may have some more information (that may be of use in troubleshooting).

I was able to burn a DVD with only a couple of gig, but when I try to burn a full double layer DVD, it cranks away for a while and then seems to hang up.

Where I see a pattern is that the temporary directory it starts building usually gets to 3.1gb before it "hangs". I have over 400gb free on that drive (stripped drive on a fairly new machine) so its not a limited space issue (in my case at least).

I've tried using the exact same menu/options as the smaller dvd that worked, but with no success.

I'm running a fresh OS (only a month old) and I have no prior versions of MF.

I feel comfortable that I have all the needed codecs installed as I can play all of the movies using Media Player, QT, WinAmp, and/or VLC.

Regards,
Jason

i feel exactly like you. Although I do not have my business built on Ulead(God Forbid)!!! but I have all their programs starting with photoimpact 11 and Ulead studio etc. Ihave been experiencing theses new program installations every time I purchase a new program of theirs.
Ulead should read these comments and try to do something...if not they will loose a lot of potential customers.

Let's hope someone conveys these messages to them. It's clear that we are not disloyal to Ulead, but struggling makes it difficult to stay loyal forever.

Can't Burn DVDs in MF5

Post by jbcalom »

Yep - same problem. Crashes everytime I reach 7%. I left Pinnacle for a similar problem. Now it looks like I'll leave Ulead for Roxio or something else. I've used MF since the beginning and never had a problem. Now this!!

As I wrote elsewhere in this forum, I do my authoring in MF4 (Waiting for MF5 to become stable first - waste the money to soon) I render the DVD folders to hard disk and then use Roxio to burn it. Long process, but it works best.

I've tried to run MF4 /5 on a fresh machine as Support says that the burning software of Ulead clashes with other burning software. On the fresh machine I still had burning problems with MF4 and 5. THen loaded Roxio and it's stable!

Strange that there is no clashes the other way around????

Unfortunately I'm a loyal guy, trying to stick with people I can trust. The Products of Ulead (I have a lot- see my profile) have been of great service to me, from there my loyalty. I also like the integration between the different programs of Ulead.

I realy hope that they will sort out their programs soon. If MF (especially MF5) is up to scratch (do what their promotions promise) it will be a very good competitor in the market, as I like the features and what it can do.

If there is not a SP soon, I'll have to start shopping around, and DVD workshop might then become an option.
I really hope that someone from Ulead reads these forums. If not, they will soon realise from the lack of sales, that there are several unhappy customers out there.

Well my Version 5 upgrade cost me a whopping £14.99 and for that I get those lovely transitions between Menu pages also those SmartScene menus.

I don't have HD but I am very happy with the meagre cost for those extra menu effects.

I agree it's not a lot of money. I can't use the transitions and fancy Smartmenus, as the program either crashes or does not clip the chapters at the right place or leaves out parts. Furthermore the back to menu feature does not work.
That's just the basics problems I had. I listed all the faults I found on my first 2-3 tries somewhere in this forum. I decided to revert back to MF4 to get the job done, and haven't had the energy (or time) to struggle with MF5 again, as I think it's basic features that should work. Now hoping for a SP that might fix the problem

Any rumours on SPs?

When DVDMF (or any other Ulead DVD products) failed to multiplex the video and audio, it usually means some codec conflicts with the program or some codec used in the file has some issues. I say usually because yes it's possible a bug in the program.

Since Kevin has found Ulead codecs are broken via Sherlock, I would think this is the case. However, it's a little hard to know why it's broken in your system unless someone can go to your place or use remote control program to check your system. Sometimes to reinstall will fix the codec break, so I think it's the reason why Ulead Tech Support offer the remove/reinstall solution to you guys.

I still wish Kevin (or some others that have similar issues) can provide more details on the source file properties and the codec packs installed in your sytem. Maybe that would help.

Best regards,

Well I read all you guys responses and THANK YOU very much for them.
I tried every possible way to get it going. Also got a new file from Ulead and uninstalled and installed several times...No luck. All my videos I did in Pinnacle Studio 9+ and also in Ulead Mediastudio8 . As for the codecs, I uninstalled them and installed them again but they still seem to be broken. And also , I tried to burn the DVD in DVD workshop and it did Beautifully... HOWCOME?????
I'm not saying Uleads products are BAD... I'm just saying that maybe they do not chack them before they set them out in the market. I paid 39.99 $ U.S for my upgrade. That is more than what you guys paid. I expect that eveything I pay for should work on the first attempt.

Ulead has granted me my REFUND, and I will probably wait to see if the SP will come out or not. Till then I think I'll Burn with workshop.

Thank you guys for ALL your help on this form.

I appreciate it veymuch.

BYE for now.
Kevin.
