Kevin,
You do need to reboot the computer after installation of MF5.
Use the export feature from the timeline to create your video files.
Then import them as compliant dvd videos into the timeline so MF5
doesn't have to render them.
It sounds like the error is in the video creation/rendering and not the actual burning process going by your description.
>>>>It reaches the Video\audio multiplexing and the crashes...
The above statement "Video\audio mutiplexing" refers to the creation of the temporary VIDEO_TS folder on the harddisk that will be burnt to a dvd in the next process.
Do you have enough free space on your assigned working folder? (Preferences F6 key).
What are your source files? Are they mpeg2 files or divx(uh...oh), or dv.avi?

Well, I do all my video editing in Viodeostudio8, Studio9+(pinnacle) and recently also in Mediastudio8. I only import the mpeg2 videos into mf5 to authorize them to DVD and Yes, I have 79GB of space in my working folder. Last night I tried to burn a dvd only with ONE video and it worked, so... is it really the mpegs???what should I do in this case. I can burn them all in DVD workshop. Should I ask for a refund on the MF5???
I tried everything but nothing seems to work. At first I thought that the content was not good. The menus were giving trouble but now I dont think it's them.
Please advise.

Movie Factory 5 DVD Disc Burning Problem Solved
I too had problems burning DVD's in Movie factory 5, after been a long time user of version 3 & 4 and never having a problem.
I was getting the message DVD drive is busy been used by another appliction, just as the data was about to be burnt to disc. after trial and error, I found out that if i shut down the Moviefactory 5 "Intuitive Quick-Drop" mini desktop applet that this solved the problem and everything worked fine.
Chris.

Hi,
If you have "Quick Drop" running in the background which should be an icon on the taskbar as an active running background process then "Right-Click" on it and close it. That will remove it from resident memory and not lock the drive for packet writing.
To stop it from loading when windows starts right-click on it and select "Option"s and uncheck the box that says "Load when windows starts" etc.
Maybe quick-drop is interfering with the drive.
Or, it is a bug.

I think the problem might be the source files. Can you list the properties of the source files and the project properties in DVDMF 5?
Also, how many codec packs do you install in the system?
Thanks and best regards,
H.T.

I do not think that the problem is with the source files since these were made in Mediastudio pro 8 and besides that, ALL the source files are MPEG2 and CAN burn DVDs in DVD workshop!!! so why doesnt it burn in MF5???
As for codec packs... whre can I find all the installed codec packs and what am I looking for???
Thanks

Have you tried to create a dvd harddisk folder instead of burning the dvd?
I don't know if this is relevant but when you burn a dvd in MF the program builds the dvd structure on the harddrive prior to burning. The location of the dvd structure is a temporary directory under the working folder. It's removed from the harddisk after burning the dvd.
First, the program multiplexes the video/audio streams into vob's, then writes out the ifo information, then burns the dvd folder from the harddisk to a dvd.
So the program isn't burning "On The Fly". It creates the dvd structure on the harddisk first so a steady stream of data can be sent to the dvd when it's being burnt.
It could be a bug/flaw, you posted that WS2 works so somethings up somewhere's.
I would try to simulate WS2 in MF5 by unchecking any fancy menus, no transisitons, no added audio, no motion menus etc.
It could be something up with the new menuing enhancements.
But, to me going by your post it's in the video/audio mutiplexing stage which is actually the creation of the dvd structure in the temp directory.

mastermusic,
The term with respect to that program means the program cannot find the file.
After you run Sherlock click on the files that do not report errors and in the screen to the right will be the location of that file.
Sometimes when you un-install a program this will happen.
It doesn't always mean that's what is wrong.

According to me, this is a fault / bug in MF5 along with several others, as MF 4 (after SPs) handles this without any problems.
I've listed several other MF5 faults in previous posts, but the response is silent. Also sent it to ULead Support. They seem to have a standard "Uninstall / Re-install response that goes out nowadays to all first querries. Whether it's due to the bad releases or trying to buy time for SPs to come out, I don't know.
I've also decided not to buy any Ulead program before the first SP is out, as the new programs (Like MF5 and MSP8 - Even had an interim Hotfix) are shipped with to many faults. Not good for the try before you buy concept. Ulead will be losing lots of potental buyers.
I'm just hoping for some SPs in MF5 and MSP8 soon.
