VS9 crashes when I use share-to create a dvd

Post by panfried »

I am a newbie.
I captured 2 home videos in mpeg2 in order to copy them to a dvd. I followed the instructions in "trevors tutorials' to create a dvd. Using Share, I added the 2 videos, set entry points, as instructed, followed up to the "burn to disk" part. When i get to the last part, i get 1 or 2 error msgs: "template not loaded" or something like that and "/program files/common files/ulead/system/DVD/uDVDBurnMgr is not registered." I checked for the file uDVDBurnMgr & it is located under the subfolder "systems/DVD" not "system/DVD."(the s from systems is missing in the error msg) When i click past these error messages & try to burn the disk, the program crashes.
I figured that the prog could not find the file because of this slight naming anomaly so I thought i would be clever & copied the system/DVD folder as systems/DVD, creating a 2nd folder string with the same files but also under "systems." It didn't work, I still got the error msg.
Whats gong on?

Help.

The correct file path as per my machine is:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\DVD
First check your windows PATH statement to see where Windows is looking for it. From the START button | Run type cmd to get what most would describe as a DOS screen. Now type PATH and press the enter key.
Read through the PATH statement to see if the folder is listed with or without the s

Having established this, again go to the run dialog box and enter the following
REGSVR32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\DVD\uDVDBurnMgr.dll"

making sure it is with or without the s as shown in the path statement above. You should now get a confirmation message that the dll file has been registered.

Dear sjj1805

The Path statement shows it with the "s", ie Systems
When I enter the command you indicated: "REGSVR32...\\Ulead Systems\\DVDBurnMgr.dll I get the error msg:

LoadLibrary(“Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\DVD\uDVDBurnMgr.dll”) failed – The specified module could not be found.

BTW: your instructions are very clear.

Do you have the version of VideoStudio that came on CD if so run the installation program again and it will include a repair option.

If that fails, or if you have the download (ESD) version you may be better off doing a re-installation. 2nd post down here: http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=11923

One last thought...... It might be an XP security setting, try right clicking the folder and check the security tab to see what permissions are in force.

I have the downloaded version, it was an upgrade from vs8. I'll follow the instructions, delete the files as recommended & reinstall from the vs9 downloaded upgrade file.
BTW: Since this was an upgrade from vs8, I still have vs8 installed. Could there be a conflict?

Also: I checked the security settings on the systems & DVD folders. Wasn't sure what to look for but saw that the folders were read only.

I still have version 8 on my computer and they live together quite happily.
I've kept it there now as we get the odd query on the forum where I may need to open Version 8 to check/test something.
The folders will show read only, that is normal, you need to check the security settings of a file within the folder, any file will do.
When you right click a file click "Properties" then "Security"
If you don't see the security tab (I notice you have Pro and not Home Edition) then at the top of the windows explorer screen:-
Tools | Folder Options | View | Use simple file Sharing
Make sure it is unticked.

I followed your advice & reinstalled vs9. No more error msgs & the REGSVR32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\DVD\uDVDBurnMgr.dll" command was confirmed. I successfully copied the video to dvd using share.

Thanks
