Burning Multiple DVD's

Post by pcork »

I am using VS6 (I'm a little behind with the times), and have been trying to figure out how to burn multiple DVD's. When I burned my first disc, I made sure to check the box to "create DVD folders" so the files would be saved. However, I have not been able to burn another disc using those saved files. My project created 5 VOS files that are saved. Should I have also checked the "create disk image" box before burning?

Are you just trying to copy the .vob files over ?? - you need to copy the complete "Video_TS" folder - including the folder it's self and all the contents to a new DVD.

I have a movie project I created and burned to DVD. I want to burn another disc without having to go through the entire "Create DVD" process of rendering the video, etc. in ULead. I thought by saving the files, I could just burn my movie (complete with video and all the menus/chapter points, etc.) onto a bunch of DVDs to give to friends, but I don't know how to do that. Do I need a program that will allow me to create multiple disks to give to others?

The easiest way to do it is by creating an ISO file (using the checkbox in the final screen of the "Create Disk" process), and burning that using the CD/DVD Image Recorder that's in the UVS group of the Start menu.

If you forgot to check that option, you can always locate the ISO file that gets written for the normal "Burn to Disk" option -- it is in a folder called BurnTemp if I recall correctly.

There is software which allows you to copy DVDs. If you need further advice in that direction just shout.

I actually have an older version of DVD X Copy that I didn't register right when I got it, and now it won't allow me to register the product (gives me an error message). All I want is some software that will allow me to copy the entire DVD (with menus, chapter points, etc) as the exact same quality as the ones I create. I won't be using it to copy any store-bought DVDs or anything like that so I won't need special encrypting software that allows you do that. I would think there is some affordable software that would meet my needs. Are there any basic programs for around $20-30 that would work for my situation?

The company that made DVD Xcopy -- 321 Studios -- went out of business and was not taken over. That is why you cannot register anything, or do anything else, like upgrade to a newer version.

Nero will certainly let you burn the Video_TS folder to any amount of DVDs you want -- I know because I do it all the time. But of course Nero is rather more expensive than the price range you mention.

Ulead Movie Factory will also let you copy discs, but again is above your price range, unless you get a cheap deal on a previous version.

DVDFab is just above your price range, however it is shareware and you can play with it for 30 days before registering if you want to. Sure it can copy commercial DVDs but you don't have to.

DVDShrink will also easily copy an entire DVD, or selected portions of it. It will output an ISO file, and if you have DVD Decrypter or Nero, it can also initiate the burning process for you.
