Smartdownload/pushfile v10, and 11, doesn't work

Well, had PI since version 3, and always liked it.

Seems (for a lot of people) the problem has been there since version 10 at least. I don't know where I saw it, maybe on a previous post. That it may be the url the program is going to for the push file. I don't know where that would be whether in the host file, but it definately needs to be fixed (for a lot of us)
If the problem has been in at least 2 versions they must be well aware of it.

Trial program is only a trial, it might have problems or bugs.

For purchased version, as I know Ulead has done some fine tunes for the ftp connection but it seems there are still some people cannot access the ftp site right. I will talk to someone to see if this can be tuned again.

The message you get is right. The message told you that you cannot access the site with full access right such as upload/delete/move files because the ftp site is only been configurated to let you download files.

I had to fire-up my old Intel for a project and installed PI10 and I get the push file error. I found all of the stuff to download at http://www.ulead.com/pi/esd1.htm
Maybe they forgot how to write HTML code?!?

Hi,
I understand the complexities of computer programming. Though when I continue to buy a product PI (since ver 3) and now VS, if I have the same problem (uncorrected in two versions one after the other. I would assume it should be fixed in a patch. It is not a big problem, just one of those little aggravating thing. I am sure Ulead is well aware of it, and it just isn't on a list of high priorities, even after two versions.
I realize I can go to the ftp site, the smartdownload use to be pretty nice. If it bothered me, I would probably try something else, but always like PI.
I did email tech support, it will be interesting what they have to say, this time

That's unacceptable. At the very least it's not good for new users experiences. Why would they prompt a screen to allow user for "smart download' on initial use if that thing doesn't even work?

It really discourages new user at the door with this kind of mistakes.

I was really looking forward to use PI11, but this is making me rethink my options.

Further more, it's giving me the same "Can't get url from push file" error when I try to open an existing template. If you said that's because it's trial version, then how the heck do they expect people to "try" this thing? Nothing works!

I have had the problem since v10, has nothing to do with the trial version. Both my v10, v11 are legal copies.
Wonder if it has to do because there upgrades to a previous version?

What bugs me most about this is it actually does go through with the download. It just doesn't install.

I'm on dial-up and can watch the download. After the download finishes, it should install, and a refresh (update of smart download) should not show that item available (to download anymore.)

Anyway, this topic should be dead. I'm even thinking of myself as a "whiner" and I'm sure many other are too.

I guess it's because I really do care about the program.
