I read the thread on the procedure of creating DVD and followed all the steps in burning my slideshow into one. Ulead finished it with Burn successful window.
yet my Pioneer Player and my Made In China player nor my pc couldnt play it. the dvd players say either Error Disc or Disc Cannot Be Played.
my pc just wont even recognize the DVD disc in the drive!
i tried playing it with my windows media player but the prompt says its COdec is not found or No codec for it.
help.. what do you do? which step did i do wrong? how do i remedy this?
Hi folks -- just back today from a month in New Zealand, and rearing to go!
Bugs: we need some more information from you. While you say you followed the recommended procedure, if your DVD is only one of photo slidshows, this involves some specific steps which may be different from the steps you follow in producing a DVD using videos. So can you tell us exactly what you did, the properties of your photos, what project properties you used and the final burn properties. It would also be useful to know what version of Video Studio you are using, since different versions, and particularly versions earlier than VS9, had particular problems with slideshows. Please also tell us something about your computer set-up.
let me now try to recall my settings as best as i could..
my pc is an Athlon 64 1.8G 3000+ with 512 of Ram. and i am using ulead video studio version 9.
for my project, i added multiple JPEG photos into the timeline and inserted some transitions, texttitles, music and some pan and zoom effects into each picture. all of 7 mins.
for the capture settings, i picked the DV 1 type.
then for the edit settings, i check on Same as Project settings.
for Project Settings...
Mpeg Capture Properties:
NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
MPEG files
24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Lower Field First for digital capture
DVD-NTSC 16:9 for widescreen
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 224 kbps
MPEG audio layer 2, 48 KHz, Stereo
for Burning settings in that gear-shaped icon button, i Set all burn properties to exactly match the properties of my Project Video File.
in the Template on the other icon button, i customized it to also match the properties if the Project.
then i finally hit the Burn button. burning went well and was successful in the end...
i get my DVD and play it but it wont. please help me... i dont know where i made the mistake, i must have hit a wrong button or something. please tell me if you need to know any more detail that i missed here so you could evaluate my error.
Was the final disc only 7 minutes long? Or did you have a number of 7 minute projects? Can you right click on your final file and tell us how big it is, please? I ask because sometimes, if a DVD has too small a file on it, players will not play it, and you have to allow Video Studio to pad it out to above the minimum size.
Personally, despite what the "Recommended Procedure" states, I recommend never burning directly to disc from either VS8 or VS9. I would suggest that you select the "Create disc image file" option (and disable "Burn to disc") and create a .iso image file. Then use either Nero or the (included with VS 9 - available from the Programs entry for VS 9) "VCD DVD Image Recorder" application to burn the .iso file to disc. At the same time you could also enable "Burn DVD Folders" and play the resulting DVD on your PC using a DVD player program.
Plus, rather than risk creating a new "coaster" when doing the above mentioned burn to disc, try writing it to a R/W disc (assuming your player will play an R/W) and then you can use a -R or +R when you are sure that everything is just as you want it.
i did tweak my settings last night and ran thru it all over to make sure all of them are the same down to the last detail.
and i am happy to tell that my 7 min production now plays!!! my husband (it is his slideshow of his vacation to the US this march) is ecstatic! no flickering, crisp clear and in widescreen format.
unfortunately, it wont play on my MadeInChina players. but hey, who cares. all the better that it plays on my original branded Pioneer player. thanks all again!
p.s. i do create a video file first before i burn. i dont burn directly into cd.
I believe the recommendation is for Smart Rendering to be turned off.
It is unusual (in my opinion ) that it doesn't play on your Made in China - usually these players are the most compatible rather than the least! i.e. I wouldn't be surprised that it didn't play on my (expensive) Pioneer and did play perfectly on my (very inexpensive) "Made in China" player
Bugs,
If it's any help you need to state your dvd burner make & model.
The maker and type of dvd's your trying to burn & their speed.
DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW etc.
Most important is the speed your are burning them at.
Most experienced users burn maximum at 4X speed.
So in the burning options availble in the last stage of the burning screen
change the default setting from MAX to 2X or 4X.
Many dvd burners are having a problem with the 16x dvd media so if you
are satisfied at burning at 4X then you only need to purchase 4X discs.
Some of the brand name consumer dvd recorders do not like the 16x rated
dvd's and you have to install a firmware update to the dvd recorders
internal firmware.
Hi, I went through hell tryign to do exactly what you are describing. I dont burn them in ulead. I burn them as a ISO disc image and burn them in nero. This way it actually works.... Good luck.
