DV to DVD Question

Post by Rob Sar »

I just recently bought the Video Studio V9 after trying the free trial. On the free trial, the DV to DVD option was working. I was able to transfer a video from my Sony Digital Camcorder (8) to DVD. However, the purchase version does not show my video on the tray when I do the scan. The video plays but does not input the video content on the panes so I could pick the clips I would like to transfer directly to DVD. I'm not sure if this is something to do with my setup. I appreciate your suggestions. Thanks

I'm sure it's your set up but you are talking in riddles. If your captured clips do not show up in the library (I guess you are talking about the library when you say 'panes or tray'.) you can still insert your clips on the time line by locating them manually via insert clips.

Firstly you need to connect the camcorder to the computer with an IEEE1394 cable also known as firewire and i-Link.
Then you need to follow the procedure here:

@Heinz,
It is obvious you have not used the DV-to-DVD Function, otherwise you would not tell Rob he is talking in riddles. He is describing the process pretty accurately (imho).

@Rob,
Are you selecting the DV-to-DVD Option from the main splash menu, or are you opening the Video Editor? Since this was working at one point for you, it should also work with the full version you purchased. Are you following the steps you used with the Trial Version? Did you purchase the Download or a Boxed version? If download version, did you install everything?

Regards,
George

DV-TO-DVD WIZARD

Post by Rob Sar »

Hi George,
Thanks for the reply. I bought the box version of ULead Video Studio. I access the DV-TO-DVD WIZARD from the main menu. The book and the tutorial CD show that when the camcorder is hooked up and the scan is activated, the screen will show the frames being scanned so I could pick the video I would like to transfer directly to the DVD. My software does not show any video at all even if I try to capture from this function. Although I am able to capture from the other functions. A also went into the Add/Remove Program and did a repair function from the CD but it is still not working. It's not that urgent that I use this function since I'm able to use the capture from the other. I just have some videos that I could actually just transfer directly to DVD without editing.

Please confirm your method of connection between camcorder and computer.

DV-TO-DVD

@ Steve,
The connection is fine. As I have mentioned earlier, I am able to capture via the other functions except for the DV-TO-DVD Wizard.
