What files do dvd players play?

I wanna make dvds but i ran into a problem on what file types they play. It wont play wmv..so what files does it play? Video studios has a lot of formats to use it in and i was wondering which it was..

If you choose "create DVD", Video Studio will convert the files to the correct format (VOB and IFO files).

It can convert WMV files, or most other video formats, but you will have fewer problems if follow the recommended procedure and feed it AVI/DV files.
