Create DVD from VOB files?

Post by The Old Timer »

Can the starting point for creating a DVD be straight from a set of VOB files & if so how is this done? In other words what option would I have to use?

(The following assumes that you're not working with copy-protected VOBs.)

Just copy the entire contents of the VIDEO_TS folder. The DVD player needs to see both the IFO file(s) and the VOB files.

The IFO file tells the DVD player how to play the VOB. (For example, I think the chapter points are in the IFO file.)

If you don't want to copy the entire DVD, you can import the DVD into Movie Factory and edit it. Then when you create a new DVD, Movie Factory will generete new VOB and IFO files.

I only have the VOB files (no IFOs or BUPs). Can I use VideoStudio to create a DVD from the 4 VOBs I have?

Where did you get these from? It entirely depends on the structure of these VOB's. Try renaming them to mpg and insert these on the time line. I have never done this myself but I believe that VOB files, without their associated IFO and BUP files cannot be imported as DVD. Renaming a VOB to mpeg has allowed me to use the file in MSP.
