VS7 - controls camcorder but won't capture, HELP PLEASE

Post by jswilko »

Hi all

I have Sony Mini DV camcorder and have Ulead VideoStudio 7 installed on my
PC.
Been using it for a year now and been ok, just come to copy some footage
from my camcorder to my PC and it will not work, its been about 4 months
since I last did this.

I always use "End it All" before running videostudio, I have a 120Gb H/D
partitioned off with around 20Gb for the operating system and the rest as
storage.
The 20Gb section has about 6Gb free and the storage section about 50Gb.

Its worked in the past but now when I go to the capture section of
videostudio and set everything as before, I click to start capture and my
camcorder fires up but it does not capture, I also do not see the video
picture in the middle screen of videostudio either.

Ideas very welcome.

Thanks
John

Does the program lock up, or just not capture anything (i.e. you get a black screen, both in the preview and the captured file)? Which Device Control setting are you using, and what capture format?

First of all have you installed the latest updates/patches for VS 7.?

I sometimes get a conflict between the Tv tuner card and camcorder.
When I switch to the capture window I have to first allow the tuner card to establish a link.
I can then switch my camera on which takes over and everything is ok.
I find if I turn / connect my camera in the wrong sequence, things go wrong.

1/ Select capture tab
2/ Select capture format ‘AVI’
3/ Switch on camera
4/ Capture format reverts to DV
5/ Capture frame can be seen in preview window.

Hope this Helps
