3D OBJECTC CUTTING
Is there a way to cut an imported 3ds object in half, and split it apart. Please help.

COOL3D PS cannot do this. One would have to do this during the modeling process. Another possible alternative is a program called "Deep Exploration" by Right Hemisphere that allows one to manipulate, color, texture, etc... the whole or parts of any imported 3D model. Maybe it has a cutting/splicing feature? It also allows one to save changes and export as .3DS. This way you can import the .3DS model or models into COOL3D PS and do what you like with them.
