create disk problem with Video studio 9

Post by mikeybude27 »

Hi Guys and Gals

Everything is fine when creating and editing Movies however the problems begins when it comes to burning the movie to a dvd. I can create menus and preview the finished movie however when i click next to get to the final screen with the "burn to disk" button the software freezes and and i am unable to click any buttons to continue. My only option is to reboot the p.c by holding down the power button.

I have had a previous email from ulead suggesting that i uninstall Videostudio 9 delete all the temp files reinstall update etc. but this has not solved the problem.

I have updated the firmware on my dvd drives and all my drivers are up to date.

Firstly please complete your system specifications on your profile page.
Then as pointed out by jchunter the correct steps are shown in the recommended procedure. You say you have followed these steps but then say:
Yep although why i should go through all that trouble just to get round some bugs that ulead cant be bothered to fix is anyones guess.
This is a tried and trusted system and so either you have misread something or there is a problem with your hardware.
The most important messages in this procedure are:
(1) Always Create a Video File for your project before attempting to burn a DVD,
(2) Never try to burn a DVD with anything in the timeline display,
(3) Never try to burn a DVD using SHARE/Add Project.
(4) Make certain that your BURN properties exactly match your VIDEO FILE properties.
Are you sure the above is your workflow?

OK
Clearly you have a problem otherwise you wouldn't be asking for our help.
The only we can do this is for you to help us help you.
Please detail all of the following:
What is the source of your material and how did you get it into the computer
use as much details as possible - including the settings - file size, bit rate audio format etc.
If you have more than one hard drive, where is your operating system and your video Studio installation.
Where did you save the imported file.
How much free space are on each of your drives.
What did you do with the imported files - edits, cuts, transitions, replacement audio etc.
After editing what did you do next BEFORE attempting to author a DVD.
When you reached the Authoring stage, how did you go about it
where are you attempting to "burn the disc" to
Disc, Hard Drive folder, ISO image.

when you state you re-installed VideoStudio - How did you go about this - in detail please not "I did what I was told."

We need ALL the information you can provide and not a simple sweeping statement along the lines "I followed instructions"
Up until now its been a bit like helping a Dentist pull teeth.

Help us to help you.

Hi Michael

Is the problem related to one file or does it happen with any file?
My first thought is that you are using a corrupt file.
Faulty files are hard to recognise.

I have in the passed used bad files only to have the system freeze.

Right click on the file/s in the timeline select properties. What are they?

Try Share Create Disc using a different file, Try using one of VS library files, I realise they are Avi’s but you should be able to get to the final window without freezing.
