Differences in XSVCD conversions?

Post by sardon »

I have some files that were created with XSVCD compression. I am using VS 7SE. I usually make these into VCD's since they are about 30-50 minutes long.

The files saved with DIVX, XVID, or others I have no problem.

I can view the file on the computer, but VS7 will not let me convert it.

Using GSPOT, it shows I have 4 codecs installed and the file is complete. Codec: 4cc XVID

When I render it says Direct Show can play the file

WinAMP plays it fine.

I load it into VS7
Insert video into timeline
Most of the time it then hangs. I have to end the task.

If I try to create VCD on share, it creates it but nothing can play it or it is VERY choppy and distorted. I have checked all the codecs and they are up to date.

Any ideas. I have 3 files that do this out of 24. They are conversions captured from cable. I try to put them on DVD as VHS wears out too fast.
Mostly educational show but sometimes things I miss while working.
Some are movies my sons made on the video camera. Has something to do with the XSVCD.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave :(

I don't think VS 7, especially not the SE version, is supporting DivX, Xvid or mpeg4 compression.

Even the latest, VS 9 is having issues with these codec's.
