DVDMF 5 Disk Burning

Post by peterh001 »

Just upgraded from DVDMF 4 to DVDMF 5 and now when I try to burn a disc it tells me that the disk is not re-writeable or is not empty. It is empty and it is rewtiteable, DVDMF 4 works fine. Any suggestions or is this a known bug in DVDMF 5 ??

Thanks

Maybe you can provide more information listed in http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=8960 so people can help.

Also the media brand would be great.

In addition to the request from htchien above please complete your system specifictions on your profile page.

Do you have any "packet CD writing software" running such as Nero InCD.
This is software that enables you to drag and drop files in windows explorer directly onto the CD and if so you need to disable it.

Steve

Thanks for your suggestion, do not have any packet writing software in use.

HT

I do not have all the information here in the office so I will need to update later, thanks for your help.

Since DVDMF 4 is still working I will try to remove and reinstall 5.

Thanks

What exactly are you trying to do? MF5 is not comparable to MF4 Disk Creator. Many of the disk creation utilities are not there. MF5 will only let you author a DVD from your movie files and burn these to DVD. It has not superseeded MF4 DiskCreator.

Go here http://www.ulead.com/dmf/runme.htm for a comparison of MF4 and MF5.

Actually that is not true.

It is not true that MF5 will only perform the task of burning your movie Files to DVD. You will find many aother available tasks available if you open the program from the MF5 Launcher as opposed to openning the MF5 program directly.

Actually both Heinzoz and Primekid are both correct.
You neded to read the foot of the following page:
http://www.ulead.co.uk/dmf/compare.htm
which states
NOTE:

DVD MovieFactory 4 Disc Creator is an all-in-one disc burning solution, while DVD MovieFactory 5 updates some of the menu authoring features, as well as adding HD support. So, if your need is for basic but wide-spectrum disc burning, MovieFactory 4 should meet your needs.

However, if you want the latest in creative menu authoring, plus you are getting ready to join the high-definition revolution, then DVD MovieFactory 5 is right for you!

In fact, if you already own Disc Creator and wish to upgrade to version 5, we suggest you keep them both installed for the widest possible range of disc burning functionality.

what type of media does it say is in the drive...

Post by rs250r »

What type of media does it say is in the drive when this happens. Does it say DVD+DL with 0 bytes available?

I have the same problem. Reported to ULead support, worked with tech who finally gave up and no longer responds to my e-mail. What type of drive do you have internal/external, brand?

I have/had internal samsungs... in other thread I posted how I worked my way around this by moving the DVD drive to a USB 2.0 enclosure and now it works. Appears to be something with the burn engine and how it interacts with the drives to determine the media inserted. The problem appears to be on Internal IDE drives so far... from my information gathering here.

Post up if you have had a similar problem...

I have 2 Samsung internal drives.

SH-S162L with latest firmware
TS-H552U with latest firmware

I even replaced a drive thinking it might be a problem cause it was an older drive

TS-H552B with latest firmware

I have reinstalled the OS and even tried with just DMF5 and nothing else installed. Works with 4 just fine but not 5.
