:( :( :( You cannot do it "at home". If your volume is low, you have to find another way to get paid for your effort, or just accept the losses.

Ulead DVD Workshop cannot do it by itself! It can only set a flag in your ISO file on your DLT (digital linear tape) that you send to the DVD production-house. That flag tells the production software to include copy protection on the production DVDs.

Both CSS (digital encryption) and Macrovision (analog copy-protection) require expensive licenses. A DVD duplication company will have a license, and they will charge you a small per-DVD fee for copy-protection. A duplication company will usually have a minimum order of 500 or 1000 pc.

CSS does not work on "burned" DVDs. There is something called CPRM (Copy Protection for Recordable Media). It's actually supposed to be better than CSS, but I haven't seen any consumer program that has it.... I haven't seen any professional programs that have it either, but I have seen it offered by duplication companies.

Although they are illegal in most countries, I think you can still find CSS and Macrovision cracking programs on the Internet. The cracking programs are often free! So, it might not be worth the extra cost of putting copy-protection on the DVD!
The licensor of CSS encryption technology is DVD CCA (Copy Control Association), a non-profit trade association with offices at 225 B Cochrane Circle, Morgan Hill, CA. There is a $15,000 annual licensing fee, but no per-product royalties. Send license requests to css-license@lmicp.com , technical info requests to css-info@lmicp.com . Before December 15, 1999, CSS licensing was administered on an interim basis by Matsushita.

Macrovision licenses its analog anti-recording technology to hardware makers. There is a $30,000 initial charge, with a $15,000 yearly renewal fee. The fees support certification of players to ensure widest compatibility with televisions. There are no royalty charges for player manufacturers. Macrovision charges a royalty to content publishers (approximately 4 to 10 cents per disc, compared to 2 to 5 cents for a VHS tape).
I have no clue about the licensing fees for CPRM.

Actually I gave up the copyprotection for some stuff and put additional material on the dvd for advertisement. This way at least your companies name can be displayed and hopefully remembered.
Like the first play feature on most dvd's etc with a watermark.
You may also be able to add a watermark or similair things to the menus.
At least it's free advertisement.

I'm glad you have a sense of humor :)

I haven't tried this this, but someone suggested this last yr...

1) After you complete the project on the time line, add a 'color" clip.
2) Set it at 15 mins in length
3) After you burn the disk, make a scratch mark on the last few "burnt lines on the DVD. The scratch may fool the recorder that the DVD is damaged and therefore will not copy but should play.
