VIDEO STUDIO 8 - Crashes when trying to generate DVD

Post by rshalev »

Hello,
Can anyone please help ?
Whem I'm using VideoStudio 8 to convert video strips to DVD, the program crashes when I'm trying to covert a "Windows Media Audio/Video" file. When converting mpeg files it works fine. Here's what I do and when it happens:
1. Run Program.
2. Select: "Video Studio Movie Wizard"
3. Click on "Insert Video"
4. The video clip in inserted in the bottom time line window and in the main screen.
5. When I click on "Next" the program crashes (getting the "Ulead Video Studio encountered a problem and need to cloce...." massage ??
Why is this happening ???

What are the properties of the clip/s you are trying to convert? Right click the clip while you are in VS and select "Properties" then psot those on the board so we can see.

Sounds like a bad video file...

Look for a program that can convert your WMV file to MPG or AVI/DV.
There is a good chance the conversion program will ignore the error, or toss-out the bad frames, and generate a good file. If you Google for "WMA to MPG", you'll find lots of programs and most will offer a free trial. I was using it for a different purpose, but I had some luck with a multi-purpose conversion program called SUPER (FREE!!!).

I have had crashes and other weird problems with bad MPEG files. (I've never played-around with WMV files.) You can't always tell you have a corrupted file. ...I call it "sneaky" corruption because all of my "bad" MPEGs played-back OK on Windows Media Player.

Hi Guys,
Thank you very much for your replies. The SUPER program works great and does the required conversions greatly, it does not crash anymore converting from MPEG to DVD - THANKS !!!
