DVD-VR Recording and Media Studio vs After Effects ?

Post by DaveG »

Hi there,
(Just had this forum reccomended to me, so this is my first post here :)).

I'm interested in purchasing either Ulead Video Studio or Media Studio, but I have some questions which I've not been able to get answered elsewhere.

1)
For reasons that don't need disucssing at this point, I am interested in converting video files (e.g. DivX) from my laptop into DVD-VR for copying onto a DVD-RAM disc and subsequent playback on a DVD-RAM recorder (Panasonic DMRE75). - Does anyone know if Video Studio or Media Studio can do this ?
(I plan to read and write DVD-RAM discs with the new LG GSA-2166D drive).

2)
I used to have access to Adobe After Effects 5.5 (which I used to produce most of the projects on this page), which I loved working with, and I could never find a limit to what I could do with it. - I'm thinking about resuming my video effects hobby. I was considering Media Studio because it is much more affordable (After Effects is way beyond the means of a modest hobbyist, imho). Although could anybody comment on the abilities (or limitations) of Media Studio in comparisson to After Effects?

(Also, would I be right in thinking that Ulead Video Studio is to Ulead Media Studio what Adobe Premier is to Adobe After Effects?)

Thank you for reading :)

I haven't used media studio, but I have used After Effects, and I think you are mistaken, in your last line about video studio vs/ media studio, and adobe premiere, vs. after effects.

The proper comparisin might be. Ulead Video studio is to Media studio as Adobe Premier Elements is to Adobe Premier. Video studio is a much lighter version of Media Studio, and is designed for editing. After effects is designed for video special effects, I may be wrong, but I don't believe Ulead has a special effects programs, besides maybe Cool 3D, but Media studio cannot compare to After effects, they both do different things. (Again, I haven't used MS, but have used after effects, so I may be wrong, thats just how I understand it. )
