Time length for capturing

Post by swannies1983 »

Hi people. Am new to this forum and can't be bothered doing a large scale search for an answer to my question.

I have Ulead Video Studio 8 and am in the process of converting some NASCAR races to DVD from VHS. As these races ae quite long, I just set up the VHS, start capturing, keep an eye on it and then stop the capture when it's done. However, the other night i thought i would let the capture go whilst I was asleep. The capture kept going well after the race had finished (and the tape had got to the end and rewound itself) and as a result, I run out of disk space.

The question is, is there some option where i can chose a capture length? I know the VHS only goes for 5 hours so can I put capture length of 5 hours somewhere? Therefore, the capture will stop at a predetermined time, no matter how long my VHS tape goes for.

Are there any programs which have this option if Video Studio doesn't have it?

Cheers
THoff

Jeez, can't be bothered to search or even look at the capture dialog -- there's a capture duration option right there.

I'd show you where to find the answer but it would be somewhat time consuming to do so. Besides THoff already has taken the time. He apparently can be bothered a bit more...

I just found it ironic that you probably spent more time typing your original message than it would have taken to check the program itself or the manual.

Anyway, welcome aboard.

lol...it's all good! I deserved it for being blind! I thought the duration was simply another version of the elapsed time when capturing

You know I think you can buy some of the races on commercial dvd.
They will also highlight the exciting parts of the races.
The nice thing about commercial dvd's is the sounds from the races.

Cool sounds good. I'm just getting a mate to tape the races from Fox and I then watch the race. If there are a lot of crashes I then convert them to DVD
