Yes, most Plextor DVD burners have bitsetting / book type support, including the PX-716A I use.
Because this is a feature that can be turned on in the drive itself and doesn't need to be controlled in the burning application, it will work with Videostudio, Mediastudio, DVD Workshop / Factory, or anything else.
I have my drive set up to mark all DVD+R and DVD+DL media as "DVD-ROM" disks, and this works very well. In my bedroom I have a Panasonic TV/VHS/CD/DVD/FM Tuner that will not read ANY user-recorded optical disks -- this was a deliberate decision by Panasonic and is stated in the documentation. It would not read DVD-R disks or DVD+R disks, but the same DVD+R media burned with bitsetting turned on to mark the disk as a DVD-ROM will play in it. It will also digest DVD+DL media flagged as a DVD-ROM.
You can go to http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters and query their DVD burner database for drives that include bitsetting / book type support. I like Plextor's implementation because it's a feature that can be controlled in the drive independent of the application.

Maybe you can try the CD/DVD Burning Pack from Ulead.
If you are using DVDMF 5 now, then the burning engine in your system is already the lastest.
For burning compatibility, I will quote some words I wrote in the Amateur Video Editing Group here.
"For compatibility, somethings need to be considered: the burner firmware, the burning software, media format, burning speed and the content bitrate (if you are tring to burn a DVD-Video). For the media format, with some branded DVD+R/RW burners you can use the bit-setting tool to burn the DVD+R/RW disc as DVD-ROM to ease the pain, but it's not always OK (sometimes it only works for old players).
It would be very possible you will get some media that is not compatible with your burner or player. If that happens, try another brand media and see if the new media works. Just stick with the most popular media, I think that might be safe. If change media does not work, check with the burner company to see if they have released any new firmware for your burner and the software company to see if any update packs released. Some burner companies such as BenQ and Lite-On will keep releasing new firmwares to improve the compatibility of their burners.
For the media I personally use Melody, Sony and Ritek disks, so far so good.
For burner compatibility, you can check http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters for more information.
For player compatibility, you can check http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers for more information.
If you are trying to burn DVD-Video disks, set the burning speed lower than (or equal to) 4X. Higher burning speed will cause some players not to recognize the disc. Some burner companies might claim their burner can burn a DVD-Video disc higher than 4X, but it's only in some ideal situation (like to use the disk that is made by the burner company).
Heat might also be an issue, but in my experience it happens with some old burners or a burner that is going to be fatal.
If all the factors are checked properly and still cannot burn a good disc, it's possible the burner is bad and you need to buy an new one."
Hope this helps.

Hi. I am not sure what happened, I posted a reply over the weekend, but it apparently never persisted...
I am back after being out of town at a class where we had very limited web access.
I wanted to thank you all for the posts. I was able to try Steve's suggestion to burn to the VIDEO_TS folder and the ISO file, (It's somewhat embarrassing since I should have thought of that...but I'm new).
The audio for the main video file was dropped a couple of times. When everything burned OK, I was able to burn a DVD from both the VIDEO_TS and the ISO file. I still do not understand why the video file is reduced during the burn process. For this part of the project the file is imported at 50 min, (3.3Gb at 4:3). MF forces me to change to 16:9 and the size of the VIDEO_TS and ISO files is 2.3Gb a reduction of 1Gb. The image will burn on a single layer disk, but the quality is lower than the original 4:3 video. There doesn't seem to be a way to prevent this.
THoff.
I have acquired and installed a PX-716A drive. I haven't had much time to get into the manual, but I installed the professonal toolset and walked through some of the panels. I see several pop-ups warning me not to continue unless I know what I'm doing. Good advice. I may need some additional help...stand by, please.
Thanks, folks.
Chuck
