problem linking to files (images & videos)

Problem: I open VS9 as usual and then attempt to add images or videos to my project from existing files (eg. pictures). As soon as I click on the folder it crashes.
No problem previously
Some changes: I downloaded Movie Factory (that links perfectly) - could it have affected VS9?
Also, was working to download from my camcorder - could I have somehow affected the internal download of existing pictures/videos?
Other - Have I corrupted my install?

My computer - XP Professional
Memory: RAM 1G
Harddrive: 2: primary 111GB currently freespace @11G
2nd drive as backup
Pentium 4

It is possible that installing Movie Factory 5 may have interfered with VS9 because there are a number of files shared between various Ulead applications. These will be located at
C:\program files\common files\Ulead Systems
If you have the CD version of VideoStudio then run the installation program and you will now find a repair option.

If you have the download (ESD) version firstly try a simple uninstall/re-install. If the problem persists then you may hav to go for a "Clean Installation" following the steps in the 2nd post down here:

It appears that I may have some how corrupted a setting with my computer !
I got a direct download in e-mail from ulead - but install still has problem. so am now getting my computer re-configured so I can try again. Should be done in a couple of days - starting today.
Will be cancelling my movie factory - but really need to get my video studio working again.
