Problem: Can't build capture Graph using VS9
I have a Sony DCR-IP5 NTSC Digital Camcorder. I can control the camcorder, but I'm unable to capture the video to my PC. The capture device is MICROMV and the format is MPEG.

I too have the same problem. I have followed the recommended setup, though I cannot find the MPEG Settings dialog box to check that!
The message "Failure to create a capture graph" comes up. The camera is detected and can be operated by the play, stop, rewind etc.
I am unable to evaluate the trial version and Ulead customer service have not replied (except to say they have my message). Any help greatly appreciated.

You appear to be capturing to the wrong format. try to capture to DV/AVIvrocrider wrote:I have a Sony DCR-IP5 NTSC Digital Camcorder. I can control the camcorder, but I'm unable to capture the video to my PC. The capture device is MICROMV and the format is MPEG.
instead of MPEG

Thanks for the suggestion Steve. When I tried to select either DV or AVI, it deselects MicroMV as my capture device.
I noticed that I did not clearly state that the camera is MicroMV, and I don't expect everyone knows all the Sony models! This one is MicroMV and from the history of posts there do seem to be some problems with this clever, (too clever for Sony even) format.

fwiw, I downloaded MediaStudio 8 trial and the capture program with that suite was able to handle my MicroMV camera.
Unfortunately the installation did not "fix" the VideoStudio 9 install, but I suspect that was a bit too hopeful.
Does anyone who understands the meaning of the error message, have any ideas what VS could be lacking that is set up properly for MS?
I've only got about 4 days of the VS trial left, then I'll retry when VS10 comes out in case that download fixes it.
