I'd like to capture VHS into my PC using VS9. What device do you guys use to accomplish this? I tried hooking up my VCR to my DV camera, then into my firewire card, but it does not appear that the jack on the camera is an 'input' jack. I did see a device at WalMart called the DVDExpress, which seems to be made for the purpose of capturing VHS to the PC, and it was $75.
Any suggestions?

On my Sony Digital 8, it's an Input/Output jack, so I can go from VCR to camera. It depends on your model. What is it?

I use a Hauppauge TV card
http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/
This turns the computer into a television set with recording and playback facilities. One drawback with a Hauppauge TV card is you can only record in MPEG format and not AVI. Other than that you have the added benefit of the televison and teletext facilities.
You can connect a VHS tape player to the TV card with co-axial or RCA cable.
If your VHS player has a SCART socket then you can get an adapter to connect the RCA cable cables to it.

Using a DVD Recorder
For what this may be worth . . .
I used to use an ADS USB capture device to capture my VHS tapes into VS9.
Recently I bought a set top DVD Recorder. I simply record the VHS to a DVD (can't be copy protected) and then move the DVD to my PC and import it into VS9 time line.
I've had good luck with this system, but if anyone has other thoughts I'd appreciate hearing them.
