the background folder is really for your menus, and not for pictures in a slideshow. the pictures in your slideshow will appear as they are -- maybe a little scaling to fit onto a screen...

they will have the black background showing from the edges? I had been importing them into adobe prem 6.0 then downsizing them and placing them in from=nt of a motion background. turns out great, but very labor intensive. i was hoping that this was going to help me out. Can i export it as an avi then import it into my adobie timeline?

I am a little confused about why this would be so "labor intensive." I am a newbie and I created several slide/shows within minutes of trying the program. I just imported the pictures and went from there. You don't have to resize your images before importing them. The program will take care of that automatically (without affecting the original images, of course.). The final saved show will be the same size regardless of how large your imported picture files are. In fact, I did an experiment to test that. I used huge picture files in one test and then used the same (but much smaller) files and made an identical slide show. When saved, they were identical sizes.

I'm not a PC whiz by any stretch of the imagination but I found the process to be incredibly fast.... not labor intensive at all. Now, if only I can find out how to navigate to an image or file to burn a DVD. Ulead will not navigate to any file or image at all when trying to copy a DVD or file of any type. It creates DVD images fine but can't find them when I try to navigate to them as the source to burn. But that's another story.

As someone already mentioned, the background is only for the menu screen.
