MF4 burning to fast.

Post by keithm »

My MF4 is trying to burn 8X DVD-r at 12X. I am setting the speed at 4X (once the blank disc has been inserted) but it ignores the setting and burns at 12X. I only want to burn at 4X (MF3 will happily burn the discs at 4X).

I tried tyhe lastest update and MF4 crashes with a can't write to memory error - so I'll have to stick with the previous update.

Any ideas? Is there a way to tweak ini files so the program will only burn at 4X?

Hi,

Did you try going to My Computer, then right-click on your DVD drive select properties. In the dialogue box that opens, the last tab should be Recording. At the bottom of that tab you should be able to change the recording speed from Fastest or 8x, to 4x..

I would suggest to do a clean re-install by following the instructions in http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=11923 then apply the update packs again.

What's the burner and the media brand?

Hope this helps.

The dvd drive is a Pioneer DVR108, the media is traxdata (ritek) 8X. The options are there to burn at 4X but the program burns them at 12X.

I have tried a clean install.

To the other reply - in widows 2000 there doesn't appear to be a recording tab for the properties of the drive.

Is there a MF4 ini file where I can force the drive speed to 4X?

If you use other burning software to burn, will it have the same situation? If it still burns at 12X, you might need to contact Pioneer for updated firmware.

I say so because software only tells the burner what speed it wants to burn, but the actual burning speed is been decided by the burner firmware.

Hope this helps.

Keith,
That was a bug in MF4 and was corrected in the updates so you have to
get upto the latest update installed if possible.

Maybe writing a .iso file and use another burning app.
Only a workaround I know.
