MF5 - Question About Menu Background Audio
In MF5 I notice when previewing a completed menu via the virtual remote control, the menu's background audio track is NOT heard. Is this normal? Just curious since the menu background audio IS heard when previewing a menu in MF4.
Thanks
Thanks

Steve,
Are you sure?
My install on the laptop won't preview the audio either.
I even tried changing the "Project Properties" to lpcm & mpeg. Still no go.

Mike,
I don't understand, what previous version.
Do you mean MF4?
Is there an update to MF5?
You shouldn't have to re-install.
I'm running the installation program now. It's says "Repair or Remove" so
I'm repairing it.
I'll let you know if the repair option worked.
My version of MF4 previews audio no problem.
Will post back after re-booting the computer.

No, I just meant if someone had encountered the same problem in MF4, perhaps there was a known solution that might also apply to MF5. Like yourself, I have not seen this problem in my MF4 installation.maddrummer3301 wrote:Mike,

When I saw this problem I opened up my full version Movie Factory 5, just grabbed the first video file I found, didnt bother with any chapters. Went to the menu screen, selected a random menu and inserted background sound from the default list that appeared. Hit the preview and the menu played Ok with the background sound playing along.maddrummer3301 wrote:Steve,

Just double checked which sound file I picked it was
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5\Content\Audio\05_Music12.mp3

Steve,
I must tell you that your doing a fantastic thing with those helpful links/posts.
Nice job.
Mike, Steve,
I bought the full version. No hassle installs.
I didn't delete that registry key that was pointed out.
The audio may be trying to playback via a different channel/codec.
I don't know. I also installed the program on the HP laptop and that will not preview the audio either. I'm sure they are aware of these things and as usual repair them.
I also received the CD from element 5 today.
I did a " fc /B xxx.exe xxx.exe (binary comparision) and both MF5 installation files were identical.
By the way when the full installation version of MF5 extracts you can write that directory to a CD and use it as an install CD. I would think the update version is the same.
Just remember to get the good results from MF5 use "Constant" bit-rate.
If your players can't play high bit-rates then go buy one that can
It's the DVD spec!!
Actually if I encode variable at 6 or 7 mbs the bitrate viewers don't fluctate very much. I don't see much difference over 7mbs between variable or constant. I was taught if there was alot of motion to use constant bit-rate.
MF5 did a great job of converting the 30 minute test tape dv to mpeg2, single pass 90% compression at 6mbs. 8mbs was clearer but 6 was totally acceptable. It looked better than when I use the dvd recorder.
Forget variable, the 4200 is to low for me. It's noticeable as someone else posted "Is there anything different with the MF5 encoder".
I just installed the new Sony "DRU-820A" in place of a Sony 510 unit. This new unit reads/writes to dvd-ram. Importing a movie from a ram disk using MF5 now. It's working ok.
